I’m convinced that intelligence is overrated.
Intelligent people are more likely to overthink, overplan, and overanalyze. They hide behind motion that doesn't create progress. They fear the judgment of others if they're proven wrong.
The truth is that intelligence is abundant. Especially now. AI is making it a commodity. Courage is not. And it can’t be replaced. The people you admire are the ones who had the courage to act. They aren’t more talented than you. They aren’t smarter than you. They just took action when you didn’t.
I often wonder how many extraordinary people wasted their entire lives waiting for permission that never came. Permission isn't granted. Permission is taken. You get to tap yourself in whenever you want. You can just do things.
Courage beats intelligence. Remember that.
Underrated life advice: A good life is built by simply doing uncomfortable things sooner. The delayed conversation gets harder. The ignored problem gets bigger. The small repair gets more expensive. Peace is never found through avoidance. It’s found through direct early action.
There is a process that I have used, and still use, to reignite life...
Create two timelines—6 months and 12 months—and list up to five things you dream of having (including, but not limited to, material wants: house, car, clothing, etc.), being (be a great cook, be fluent in Chinese, etc.), and doing (visiting Thailand, tracing your roots overseas, racing ostriches, etc.) in that order.
If you have difficulty identifying what you want in some categories, as most will, consider what you hate or fear in each and write down the opposite.
Do not limit yourself, and do not concern yourself with how these things will be accomplished. For now, it’s unimportant. This is an exercise in reversing repression.
Be sure not to judge or fool yourself. If you really want a Ferrari, don’t put down solving world hunger out of guilt. For some, the dream will be fame, for others fortune or prestige. All people have their vices and insecurities. If something will improve your feeling of self-worth, put it down.
Drawing a blank? In that case, consider these questions:
1) What would you do, day to day, if you had $100 million in the bank?
2) What would make you most excited to wake up in the morning to another day?
Don’t rush—think about it for a few minutes.
If still blocked, fill in the five “doing” spots with the following:
— one place to visit
— one thing to do before you die (a memory of a lifetime)
— one thing to do daily
— one thing to do weekly
— one thing you’ve always wanted to learn
What does “being” entail doing?
Convert each “being” into a “doing” to make it actionable. Identify an action that would characterize this state of being or a task that would mean you had achieved it. People find it easier to brainstorm “being” first, but this column is just a temporary holding spot for “doing” actions.
Here are a few examples:
1) Great cook —> make Christmas dinner without help
2) Fluent in Chinese —> have a five-minute conversation with a Chinese co-worker
Determine three steps for each of the dreams in just the 6-month timeline and take the first step now.
Define three steps for each dream that will get you closer to its actualization.
Set actions—simple, well-defined actions—for now, tomorrow (complete before 11 A.M.) and the day after (again completed before 11 A.M.). Once you have three steps for each of the four goals, complete the three actions in the “now” column.
Do it now. Each should be simple enough to do in five minutes or less. If not, rachet it down. If it’s the middle of the night and you can’t call someone, do something else now, such as send an e-mail, and set the call for first thing tomorrow.
If the next stage is some form of research, get in touch with someone who knows the answer instead of spending too much time in books or online, which can turn into paralysis by analysis.
The best first step, the one I recommend, is finding someone who’s done it and ask for advice on how to do the same.
Best advice I got in my 20s: Nobody cares. When you’re winning, nobody cares. When you’re losing, nobody cares. Stop fearing the judgement of people who were never even thinking about you. Nobody is thinking about you. They’re too busy thinking about themselves. Go do the thing.
Habits so simple you think they’re not worth doing, but have a profound impact on your life:
- Not touching your phone when you wake up
- Not thinking about work after work is done
- Putting a book down once you find an idea worth thinking about
- Setting aside time to do nothing for 10 minutes a day
- Going on a short walk after each meal
- Eating a meal without a screen in front of you
- Saying "I don't know" instead of pretending you do
- Asking "What if this isn't actually a problem?" before trying to solve it
- Letting yourself be bad at something instead of expecting perfection
- Trying to understand something you disagree with instead of looking for flaws
- Defaulting to "no" until you think through the commitment
The older I get, the more I realize intelligence is overrated. Intelligent people are more likely to overthink, overplan, and overanalyze. They hide behind motion that doesn't create progress. They fear the judgment of others if they're proven wrong.
The truth is that intelligence is abundant. Courage is not. The people you admire are the ones who had the courage to act. They aren’t more talented than you. They aren’t smarter than you. They just took action when you didn’t.

Courage beats intelligence.
A few cold emails changed my life.
Here are some tips if you're trying to send one:
1. Short and simple gets read (long and complex gets deleted). Stop with the long cold emails. They make eyes glaze over and get deleted. 4-5 lines, space them out with hard enters (makes them appear more optically pleasing and digestible).
2. Simple direct subject line. Stop with the shock factor cold emails. They may get an open, but the person won't take you seriously (sorry). Just be direct.
3. Personalize it (and don't use AI). Make sure it's clear it's not a mass email. Just do the unscalable thing. Learn something about the person you're sending it to and include that detail.
4. Embed a bit of social proof on why the person should take you seriously. What have you done? What makes you different or interesting? If you have nothing, focus on building some skills first. Your skills are networking magnets.
5. Create some value for the person. Don't "gate it" behind a follow-up call or email, just share it. If you're pitching a service, create a mock-up of what you'd do for the person and include a screenshot in the email. If you're trying to get an interview, include a doc breaking down your observations about the company and opportunities.
6. End with a clear call-to-action. Ideally a single line, short sentence, and bolded or clearly standing out from the email.
Hope this helps someone out there. I know it would have helped me.
Holy fucking shit
A new startup idea just dropped:
1. DM local businesses - "hey, you're invisible to AI search. I can fix that."
2. Use CrowdReply to organically embed their name into relevant online conversations at scale
3. AI models scrape that content. Your client becomes the recommended answer.
4. Charge $1,500–3k/mo. Land 5 clients. Done.
No need for ads or cold calls. No technical skills needed too.
First agency to own this category is gonna print. Bookmark this.
Local business idea:
AI agency for small businesses
Automate their scheduling
Automate their customer service
Automate their social media
Charge $1,500-$3,000/month
20 clients is $30,000-$60,000
Almost nobody is doing it yet
This is the new local marketing agency...
I use Claude as my personal assistant: I'm not asking Claude to think for me. I'm using it to do the slow, grinding analytical work faster, so my actual thinking goes further.
Here's how it saves me time.
🚨 Do you understand what Anthropic just did?
> They made an AI that sits on your computer, takes orders from your phone, and does your work while you're gone.
> You text it a task.. You go live your life.. You come back to finished work.
> A year ago people were arguing about whether AI could write a decent email.. Now it's running your entire machine while you sleep.
> Your company doesn't need you online 8 hours a day anymore... They need you online long enough to type a message to Claude.
The 9-to-5 got replaced by a text message.
The secret of life is to approach it playfully.
Everything can be approached with a sense of lightness, joy, and ease.
Doesn't matter what you're doing. Working at a cafe. Meeting someone new. Going out to dinner. Taking a work call. Writing a tweet. Going on a crazy travel adventure.
The illusion is that things are meant to be taken seriously.
This morning, I caught myself racing against time.
I had a friend arriving in Thailand.
I wanted to work out, jump in the ocean, and get coffee before he got here.
I was stressed and tense — battling against reality instead of flowing with it.
But everything changed with one mindset shift.
It's what I have tattooed on my arm:
"It's all play."
I decided to see the entire situation as a scene out of a movie to experience — rather than something to control and fight.
Ripping my motorbike through town, jumping in the ocean, and grabbing a cappuccino became an electric experience to enjoy rather than something to rush through.
My friend arrived, and the rest of the day flowed magically because my vibrational state shifted from tension to flow.
So whenever you're rushing, tense, or way too serious — a red flag should go up in your mind.
Life is not meant to be taken so seriously.
Reality is not meant to be controlled and fought against.
This is meant to be a game, a movie, an exploration in consciousness, and a journey your soul chose to experience through the character of you.
Sink into that state of awareness and watch your life play out more magically than you could have ever controlled from a tense, rigid mind.
It's all play.

Im going to leave you with this tonight.
Underrated life skill: asking for exactly what you want. Most people hint, hope, and wait for others to read their mind. Instead, state your request directly, explain why it matters to you, propose how it benefits them too, and give them an easy out. You'll be shocked how often the answer is yes. The worst they can say is no, which is exactly where you started. People actually respect clarity. Fortune favors the bold, but it adores the specific.
You almost always win when you just keep going and say to yourself I will continue until I figure it out.
You just have to be relentless long enough for luck to find you.
People underestimate how long it takes to win big.
You struggle for 10 years. Eventually, in one day, you achieve more than you did your entire life.
Be patiently aggressive.
A rule that will lower your anxiety: Don’t replay conversations you can’t change, and don’t pre-live ones that haven’t happened. Focus on the next right action. Most stress comes from living everywhere except the present.
