What happened with Senegal v Belgium just further reinforces the idea that African teams have an inferiority complex or haven't fully grasped the mental aspect of football at the highest level. From 2-0, to end up losing 3-2? They paid the price for not being ruthless.
I desperately need people who only watch football every 4 years to stop suggesting rule changes.
Yes, the offsides rule makes sense. No, there should not be unlimited substitutions. Yes, a penalty shootout is the best way to settle a draw.
The world’s biggest sport doesn’t need your alterations.
Mbappe is a killer for real. Scary stuff! @realmadrid need to get their shit together before it's too late. I still hold some hope that they can have a potent partnership with Vini Jr.
@AfricaViewFacts With all due respect, Prof is having an emotional response to an issue that is desperately begging for a nuanced intellectual discussion, far from the political posturing. There's absolutely no moral authority on this deep-rooted issue especially for African leaders.
They never ask why the migrants are coming.
Or rather, they ask it, and then they answer it wrong.
They come because of corruption in their home countries. Because of cultural dysfunction. Because of tribalism, poor governance, a failure to develop the institutions that produce stable societies.
They do not come because Britain ran Nigeria for sixty years, reorganized the economy around extraction, and built railways and ports primarily to move commodities outward.
They do not come because France still pegs the currency of fourteen African nations to its own, with a veto over monetary policy and a transition away from the system that keeps getting delayed, year after year.
They do not come because the IMF's structural adjustment programs in the 1980s and 1990s dismantled the public sectors of twenty countries in a single decade.
They do not come because Western agricultural subsidies make it impossible for Sahel farmers to compete in their own markets.
They come because of corruption.
Which is true, sometimes. The corruption is also real.
What they don't teach is who trained the corrupt officials, who banks their money, who sells them the weapons, who guarantees the loans that require the policies that produce the conditions that generate the corruption.
Those are Western cities on that list.
Those are Western banks.
But the migrants arrive without that context, carrying only their bodies and their desperation.
And the question gets asked again.
Why are they coming?
I'm so disappointed at Cote d'Ivoire. They're more skilled and athletically superior. The lack of end product is quite shocking. I don't know if it's down to coaching but they clearly need to change things up. Case in point, try short corners, quicker passing etc. 😏
Take any population on earth.
For several generations, remove their most physically capable members by force and sell them abroad.
Destroy their existing political institutions and replace them with administrative structures designed to extract rather than develop.
Draw their borders to maximize ethnic conflict and minimize political coherence.
Extract their mineral and agricultural wealth for a century at prices you set unilaterally.
When you leave, install governments that serve your economic interests rather than their populations.
Fund civil wars when those governments are threatened by leaders who want to redirect resource revenues toward domestic development.
Then, three generations later, administer a cognitive test.
Compare the scores to those of the populations who spent the same period accumulating capital, building universities, developing public health infrastructure, and compounding the advantages of political stability.
Put the results on a map.
Call the map a "nature documentary."
Tell yourself the scores show something biological.
Tell yourself the history had nothing to do with it.
Tell yourself you arrived at this conclusion by following the evidence.
You did not follow the evidence.
You followed the map to the place you had already decided to go.
And the evidence, the entire, documented, sourced, cross-disciplinary evidence, is the invoice you refused to open.
@madridlatest91 That team is fine. The main problem is the creators and wingplay. You have Bruno with a main character syndrome thinking this is Man Utd. On the other hand you have Pedro Neto, Leao etc dropping stinkers every game.
He made new Designs for the FIFA World cup Logo and it’s far better than the one they used!! I mean far far better!!

@ESPNFC I'm starting to believe that the outcome of this tournament was choreographed sometime ago. It's starting to feel deliberate. Like how do you miss a penalty and a potential red card in the same match? With VAR?
