@hcf64 That’s it, Roaring Camp! Think it was “bunker c” oil they were using at the time. Basically sludge that somehow didn’t ignite as you fueled while smoking cigars. Way fewer cinders up the stack but far more slick surfaces to fall out of the cab

@hcf64 Offset boiler and vertical pistons, oh the vibration could shake a person off. Fired a similar Shay awhile back - managing water above the crown sheet upgrade was a helluva task but damn that gear train could pull!
