@scottswag@RobertMSterling To be fair, Costco averages around a .12% shrink rate and has a 3.45% TTM operating margin, so shrink washes out 4% of earnings. To their benefit, they have the volume and staffing to put a tightly controlled operating model in place along with large packages.
@MattWallace888 The hyperbole here is cringeworthy. A CEO is in service to customers, shareholders, and employees. Employee safety matters but the legal costs of wrongful accusation or detainment are significant. Enabling a policy having 25k employees act as enforcement officers is absurd.
@ShlomoChopp@rickwatson 👏👏👏 Amazing how waiting up to an hour for lukewarm food that doesn't look nor taste as good as the menu and paying a 35% - 50% premium isn't delivering the utopian hockey stick of growth!
@digitallynativ Haha, with some OG retail roots, to me 'Jim' also seems to have a bit of swag even on a bad day. A numerator/denominator multi point average that sounds like a real heavy science equation to the outsider.
@digitallynativ 💯 agree. Selectively screening CrunchBase looks like a lot of DTC brands raised around mid-2021 ish which isn't entirely a surprise given the favorable market at the time. However, 18+ months later might feel quite turbulent when the next raise is paramount to survival.
