This is Donna Cooper. Previously Pepco’s top lobbyist. She got him to kill an energy affordability measure in 2018. It costs DC families $300-$500 a year.
Hundreds of millions for Pepco. A few mins waving a sign. Good deal for Pepco, bad deal for DC.

@MayorBowser You canceled protected bike lanes on Connecticut Avenue after a multi-year process with well attended public meetings that netted support from every impacted ANC and initially yourself-reverse this blunder before you leave office & you can claim bike infra as part of your legacy.
👀"If Graham Platner – oysterman, veteran and alleged prep-school kid – weren’t advocating for broad revolt against America’s economic elite, both The New York Times and the Wall Street Journal would have left him alone. But he’s the ultimate Democratic nightmare for the same reason he’s the ultimate Republican nightmare: A super articulate, well-read working man who speaks in full paragraphs, wears his pain on his sleeve, has a house full of firearms and has openly espoused a government that puts working people first. He’s Bernie Sanders with two combat tours and an oyster grant."
McDuffie's tough-on-crime stance masks the uncomfortable truth that after a decade in power, his coalition failed to address the root drivers of violence. They failed to build deeply affordable housing, fix broken schools, or provide economic options east of the River.
It is deeply cynical for @kenyanmcduffie to invoke the names of murdered children to justify a pivot back to mass incarceration era policies. Invoking these tragedies is an admission of his own policy failures:
When the city experienced a spike in violence in 2023, the response from the powers that be was the Secure DC omnibus bill, a sweeping piece of regressive legislation that expanded pre-trial detention and brought back 1990s-style "drug-free zones." 2/
The Post's voter guide is always helpful in getting the candidates on the record on big issues: Among other things, I noted McDuffie says he now doesn't support congestion pricing. He told @ggwash earlier this year that he did.
every DC-based political operative bio is like: “Strategist. Storyteller. Girldad. Fighter of good fights. Lives on a diet of coffee and red wine, but usually not in the same cup 🤫. Always down to yap about redistricting. Hook ‘em 🤘”
One reason why many DC YIMBYs are supporting JLG over McDuffie (with misgivings) is McDuffie keeps lying about what he will and won’t support.
You don’t know what McDuffie will do as Mayor because McDuffie doesn’t know what he’ll do as Mayor.
McDuffie did author the NEAR Act. McDuffie also repeatedly allowed the executive branch to underfund, stall & dismantle the NEAR Act. This article would have you think he's some shocked outside observer and not the architect of the reality we live in.

Do I know any audio heads in DC who are in the market for a set of Bose 201v's with stands?
Or anyone who has recently bought a record player and doesn't know what speakers to get for it (these are the speakers you should get for it)
I have some free time today and this article by @mattyglesias deserves a proper rebuttal. I don't have a Substack, so here's the thread...🧵

Exclusive | WASHINGTON — The top spokesman for Mayor Mamdani raked in more than $50,000 for political consulting work on Maine Senate Democratic candidate Graham Platner’s campaign right up until he started at City Hall in January. https://t.co/d7KMVd5BF7
