Als een links iemand klaagt over zijn baan – dan ligt het aan de baas, het bedrijf of de collega's. Hij eist een collectieve overeenkomst, staking, veranderingen voor de hele buurt en protesteert tegen het bedrijf zodat het hem past.

Als een rechtse ontevreden is met zijn huis of huur, verhuist hij, renoveert hij of koopt hij iets anders.
Als een links iemand ontevreden is met zijn huis of huur, eist hij een huurstop, meer subsidies, reguleringen voor iedereen en protesteert hij tegen verhuurders en politici.

Als een rechtse faalt in een zakendeal of een investering die mislukt, staat hij op, klopt het stof af en probeert hij het morgen opnieuw.
Als een links iemand op de 24e geen geld meer heeft, geeft hij de rijken de schuld dat ze te veel hebben en meer moeten bijdragen, geeft hij de loterijwinst de schuld die vorige week niet binnenkwam en moppert hij dat hij zo'n pech heeft.

🚨We were told if we post this, their attorneys will send us letters. Oh well. These two individuals are accused of ripping more than 100 bronze memorial vases from graves at a Maryland cemetery just to sell them for scrap.

Trey Franklin Mason, 25, and David Anthony Downing, 34, both of Waldorf, face charges after detectives recovered over 100 bronze vases stolen from Trinity Memorial Gardens in Charles County.

The thefts occurred in June and early July and are valued at more than $100,000.

Authorities say the pair targeted the cemetery on multiple occasions, damaging headstones and leaving grieving families without the memorials placed for their loved ones.

Mason was arrested July 9 and Downing on July 16. Both are charged with theft scheme, destruction of property, fraud and related offenses and are being held without bond.

Stealing from the dead for scrap metal is a special kind of low.

These men picked the graves of Maryland families as their target.

On September 12, 2001, the day after the towers fell, a man in worn firefighter gear shows up at Ground Zero and starts walking.

Smoke still filled the air. Dust covered everything.

He walked through the ruins for hours, passing exhausted rescue crews, searching for one place.

His old firehouse.

The man was Steve Buscemi.

Most people knew him as the unforgettable character actor who played crooks, gangsters, and unsettling outsiders.

Long before Hollywood, he wore a different uniform.

At just eighteen, he took the New York City firefighter exam. In 1980, he joined FDNY Engine Company 55 in Manhattan's Little Italy, spending four years running into burning buildings before leaving to pursue acting.

He never forgot where he came from.

When the Twin Towers were attacked, Buscemi tried calling his old firehouse.

Nobody answered.

He knew exactly why.

Soon came the devastating news. Five firefighters from Engine 55 were missing, including a close friend he had once served beside.

He didn't stay home.

He found his old gear, made his way to Ground Zero, and searched until he found his former company.

At first, they looked at him with surprise.

Then they recognised one of their own.

For five days, Buscemi worked twelve-hour shifts beside them, digging through twisted steel and shattered concrete, searching for survivors and helping recover those who never came home.

It was exhausting.

Heartbreaking.

Necessary.

He refused interviews. He avoided cameras and kept his face covered, wanting the mask to hide more than the dust.

He wasn't there for headlines.

He was there for his brothers.

The public learned what he had done only because a photographer captured a single image, and fellow firefighters later told the story he never intended to share.

The experience stayed with him.

Buscemi has spoken about the post-traumatic stress that followed, admitting the hardest part came after he returned home.

He never called what he did heroic.

"It was a privilege to be able to do it."

On screen, Steve Buscemi often plays the man nobody trusts.

When his city needed him most, he became the man his brothers could.

Ian Richard Olson of St. Helens spent ten years fighting lymphoma.

One week after learning he was in remission, he was robbed and sh0t in the back of the head at a Motel 6 in Northeast Portland on December 21, 2018. Jeremiah Terrel Hannon, then 15 and already on a two-month crime spree, took his life.

Hannon pleaded guilty to second-degree m*rder. Oregon’s juvenile laws mean he must be released by his 25th birthday, which is now approaching.

Ian had survived cancer only to lose everything in a motel room. The system treated his k-ller as too young for real consequences. Mainstream coverage of the case stayed quiet compared to other high-profile stories.
