1965 BUFFALO BILLS | Under HC Lou Saban, Bills:

• Finished 1st AFL East Div. Allowed league-low 226 pts (16.1 per game).

• Forced 32 INTs & only 4 rushing TDs all season.

• Record not allowing a rushing TD across an 18-game stretch spanning parts of 1964 and 1965.

• AFL Championship Game was played on Dec 26, 1965 w/Buffalo defeating San Diego 23–0 securing back-to-back AFL titles for Buffalo.

• Bills' turnover ratio was +18, best in the AFL.

• Buffalo's +87 point differential was second-best in the league in 1965.

Happy Birthday Danny Abramowicz, out of Steubenville, Ohio: 6’1 195; Danny Abramowicz holds a legendary status as the first true home-grown star in @Saints history. Drafted as an extreme long-shot in the inaugural 1967 season, he defied the “small and slow” tags from scouts to become an elite @NFL wide receiver. His legacy is defined by unmatched gridiron grit, historic receiving records, and a deep, lifelong connection to the city of New Orleans—Selected in the final ( 17th) round of the 1967 Draft out of Xavier, Ohio, he famously stood his ground when head coach Tom Fears tried to waive him during training camp, demanding a fair chance to play—In 1969, he led the entire @NFL in receptions with 73 catches for 1,015 yards and seven touchdowns; 81 Today @ptrostant

1971 HOUSTON OILERS | under HC Ed Hughes, the ‘71 Oilers went 4-9-1.

Highlights:

• 5th yr FS Ken Houston (future HOF) had the best season of his career, snagging 9 INTs for 220 yds, 4 TDs, all career highs.

• Dan Pastorini & Lynn Dickey, drafted.

Fuqua played in 100 games, rushing (3,031 yds), 24 TDs. In 1970 he rushed for 691 yds, 7 TDs w/a record (218 yds) against the Eagles. In celebration of the 35th anniversary of the Immaculate Reception, Fuqua created a candy bar called "The Immaculate Confection" 🍫

“FRENCHY” | John William Fuqua (b. 1947) was drafted in ‘69 then traded to the Steelers in ‘70 and would forever become part of NFL lore as the intended target for QB Terry Bradshaw's pass that resulted in the Immaculate Reception.

Fuqua nicknamed himself "The French Count” & is remembered for being one of the flashiest NFL dressers wearing platform shoes having see-through heels that contained water and live tropical fish selected from his aquarium to match the color of the day's outfit.
