Six days ago we reported that a figure of roughly 400,000 voter records was being discussed internally on statewide elections calls — about 13% of registered voters if accurate.
The number now being discussed publicly is closer to 27%.

The changing number isn’t the main issue.

In Oregon, inactive voters can still vote, and voter registration is handled through a vote-by-mail system with online access points.

That makes process and safeguards the real question.

On Oregon’s Secretary of State website, a voter record — including name, address, and party affiliation — can be pulled up using only a name and date of birth.

In a vote-by-mail state, that deserves scrutiny.

This matters even more after Oregon’s 2023 DMV data breach, which involved personal identifying information tied to voter systems.

This isn’t an accusation.
It’s a transparency question — and a reasonable one.

NEW REPORT: a reader discusses the process by which Indian students with no experience enter the U.S. in collaboration with Indian bodyshops using fraudulent tactics such as fake resumes, proxy interviews, and fake references. This has been going on since the 90s.

Bodyshops give minimal training to their Indian employees, often as little as a few weeks, for roles such as software developer, analyst, and so on, then pitch them as "experienced" to American firms such as Allegis, Apex Systems, or Insight Global. The contracts these bodyshops insist on prevent the American firms from doing their own background checks, enabling unqualified Indians to get jobs at Microsoft, Meta, or other major companies that pay $100,000 a year or more.

Indian bodyshop consultants rely on their colleagues to learn on the job, wasting resources that could be used for productive employees. "Typically, clients pay $100/hour to the U.S. firm, which takes $25/hour, passing $75/hour to the consultancy, which keeps $25/hour, leaving the consultant $50/hour or $100,000/year."

This practice has allowed unqualified Indians to ascend to executive roles at major corporations. The reader names Satya Nadella (Microsoft), Sundar Pichai (Alphabet/Google), and Arvind Krishna (IBM) as examples of Indians who obtained their jobs through bodyshop fraud. He also notes that "[t]here's a high likelihood some used deceptive practices to advance, potentially prioritizing hiring only Indians, receiving illicit payments or large gifts under the table." This is a national security risk since it's likely that these practices have also affected the FBI, Department of Justice, and other government roles. While this goes on, Americans with actual experience and qualifications go unemployed or are stuck in menial low-paid work.
