🚨 By 2030, @HHSGov projects a 20% decrease in psychiatrists. 60% of psychiatrists are 55+ making them the oldest (and closest to retirement) of all medical specialties. At the same time, the state of mental health is abysmal and demand for care is at an all-time high.
A bipartisan bill aims to address this supply crisis. It includes provisions such as the expansion of Medicare's bonus program to attract talent to rural areas, an increase in Medicare-sponsored residencies and modification of requirements to make it easier to see psy trainees.
