Will the first solo founder to hit $100M ARR be an AI game creator?? Probably...
@levelsio just built a flight sim in 3 hours that's now making $67K/month. using grok3, cursor and a cocktail of ai tools.
History keeps compressing:
1) The web era gave us Million Dollar Homepage (1 guy, 1 month, $1M).
2) Mobile brought us Flappy Bird (1 guy, few days, $50K daily).
3) Now AI delivers Levels' flight sim (1 guy, 3 hours, $67K monthly and growing).
The traditional game economics are brutal: AAA games cost $100M+, indie games need $100K+, and mobile hits demand teams of 10+ devs plus $250K to build and another $100K monthly in marketing.
The barrier to entry was skill, capital, distribution, and time. No wonder 99% of them failed.
Now, you just use Grok3, Cursor, Midjourney, Cling AI etc to build your games. And you just tweet it out when it's live. Don't need to get into BestBuy lol.
"BuT PiEtEr'S GaMe iS so UglY and BugGy"
Well, what if people prefer it that way?
Like how amateur YouTube videos outperform polished productions, these games create genuine communities. Players suggest features and see them implemented in real-time.
They're participants, not just consumers. Couldn't be more different than a Call of Duty and maybe thats what people are seeking.
And what's cool is these AI game studios will operate at 80%+ margins whereas typical studios are in the 15-20% after costs.
Sam Altman predicted the first billion-dollar solo founder.
I'll go further: the first solo founder to hit $100M annual revenue will be an AI game creator who launches 50 concepts in the time it takes traditional studios to build one.
The AI games gold rush has begun?
I love every single time it's the same reactions from people:
2022 - ChatGPT first version: it'll never be smart enough as humans
2022 - Image models like Stable Diffusion: it'll never be able to make imagery as good as artists
2023 - Then people in these images: it'll never be able to generate realistic people (remember the hands problem?)
2024 - Then video: it'll never be able to generate flawless video, it's too messy now
2025 - Now games: it's all AI slop and will never be able to generate high quality games
Every single time AI enters a new industry it's the same reactions and every single time it's improved so fast over such a short time and did become good that it'd be naive to ridicule it and ignore it
Better to embrace it, be curious about it, learn to work with it and see how you can implement it in your workflow, because 99% of people will just ridicule it, fight it and won't!
It's interesting many people doubt it's AI
We have like a massive group of people just underestimating the ability of AI now
And then a massive group of people (usually in tech) kinda overestimating it
When reality is it's quite capable now and impressive but not near fully replacing devs for complex projects (like video games) yet
But for simple projects yes it's already very able to fully write everything
For complex projects you really need to isolate it on a specific part of the code and let it work there cause it'll make a mess if you let it loose on a big project (try it)
IT WORKS!!!!!
A FULL multiplayer with Python websockets server that receives and broadcasts all player positions every 100ms (10 times per second)
All code written almost 100% by AI with Cursor and Grok 3 wrote the server code
Now you can fly around with everyone else :D It'll probably crash after this tweet but let's try!

The reason before it didn't move was it was stale players that already quit and it kept their positions
Every red plane is someone real flying now too! 😊
Software engineer job postings are at a 5-year low, as per data from Indeed (which is a pretty good data source).
But how bad are things, really? I looked closer and found that it's... probably not as bad as circulated on social media (cont'd)
Also not the end of software eng
Just for my personal pride, I would like to state that the father of my children was the first american druid in diablo to clear abattoir of zir and ended that season as best in the USA. He was also ranking in Polytopia, and beat Felix himself at the game. I did observe these things with my own eyes. There are other witnesses who can verify this. That is all.
48 hours ago, Sam Altman dropped the most shocking AI essay ever.
But everyone missed the hidden bombshell:
OpenAI's labs just achieved an unprecedented breakthrough.
Here's what's really happening behind closed doors 🧵:
@GergelyOrosz Thinking about it another way today GenAI probably does replace software engineers in the form of requiring less hiring. I could imagine very early stage startups hiring less and accepting tech debt from less engineers accelerating progress with LLMs
Anyone saying that GenAI could replace software engineers don't understand how software is created (and operated.)
Tool innovations have always make the process of building software faster, cheaper: GenAI and AI agents will also do this.
These are tools and efficiency gains.
AI is now 62% of my revenue and remote work just 23%
Meanwhile my book + my X income + my new merch is 14%
2-year quick pivot from remote work diversifying into AI and other revenue sources
It's remarkable how unliked Jira is. Hard to come up with another piece of software that seems so universally panned by people who have to use it, yet has clearly proven popular. I guess there's Salesforce, but... So what is it about Jira that so many don't like?
