@TerryBa95116497@J70JDV@RailFreight@networkrail The water train I think is about 97 slu, each IZA twin is 89ft, usually there are 22 twins plus a loco. Container trains are regularly above 100slu on certain routes. Also the BMW Mini train Oxford to Southampton, if it had 10 WIA’s is about 108slu.
@WilliamBarter1@otisdriftwood99@ChimeWhistle As you say, you’d logically sweat your most expensive asset, the rolling stock, to its limit, and work the train crew diagrams to fit around it.
@JoeF_E17@transwarrior4@reece_dinsdale I think he spent his summer break getting force choked by Darth Vader for coming out of light speed too close to Hoth.
@pdiddywoodcock Yes I was surprised I got an early run, think it was because 6M89 didn’t run, but I got looped at Hemsworth instead to follow same LNER I should follow from Hare Park.
@Flying_Vixen Just to add for the poster. The company decide when you learn a new route, but from a driver view you really want to drive a route soon after learning to get it in your head and it become second nature. You really don’t want to learn too many at the same time.
@Flying_Vixen I think the model shop is now a tattoo parlour, it was down the bottom near the baths (which has gone). I spent most of my Saturday’s working in the Warrington branch of the model shop, manager gave me a lift each time, 8hrs for £10, got the love the 1990’s pay.
@Flying_Vixen 30 odd years ago my now wife and I were on work experience, I worked at the model train shop in Library Street, she worked at Galloways opposite Wallgate, I used to pop round for my lunchtime pie for those two weeks. Both got Saturday jobs out of it.
@ianvisits Not necessarily, but I think the perception of the supporters of this is if we get rid of drivers then it’ll run perfectly all the time as you’ve eliminated the main ‘problem’.
@europebarguide Flew to Copenhagen last month, but got the train to Malmo just over the water in Sweden. Malmo Brewing Co & Taproom is definitely worth a visit, short train ride away but a great selection.
