@lakeshow73 All depends - are they cutting payroll to save money in general, or cutting payroll to spend it (and possibly more) to spend elsewhere? There are two greatly different scenarios, each with vastly different opinions from the masses.
@RyanVick_4@Twins Twins have played great ball vs expectation. And offensively, their production has been incredible considering the circumstances. Bullpen has obviously been much the opposite.
Any positive expectation of miracles against the Dodgers are not realistic.
@The_Barftender Yup!
He showed publicly that he played when he wanted to. Lazy on both sides of the ball, but at times worked his butt off. Worse on the D side. And for a team lacking discipline way too often, that's not the kind of message they need on the court OR in the locker room.
@TwolvesBlog Dumping a player of that caliber while simply dropping in the draft to do so shows how much they wanted him off the team. He played when he wanted on both sides of the ball, and rumor was he was not popular in the locker room. Management wanted him gone for a reason.
@PlayersChoice_ What about other moves that would have been impossible while in the 2nd apron?
And if DDV/Ant/Ayo had not all been injured in this year's playoffs, how different would things have gone?
People remember the KAT run and a ring, but what about the Knicks trying to trade him?
@JMurrayWrld He plays hard on the occasion that he feels like it. Which has not been in our losing playoff round 2 years in a row. Rumors are, he wasn't liked in the locker room despite his talent. The fact that we traded down simply to get rid of him shows how much the team wanted him gone.
@PDWolves The NBA has to end this nonsense. Do like the NFL - anything that happens in advance or during the draft should not be "top secret" during the draft, even though everyone already knows about it.
@lockedbyae He was hired to beat the Nuggets, and he has accomplished that in aces. We have their number. Unfortunately, they aren't the target any more. And the 'style' to win has now completely shifted.
@sarah_from_sota The fact that we traded down to get rid of a very good player shows how much we wanted him gone, and how low the demand for him was. Everyone else watches film too. They saw him loaf through games when we needed him most. And that was probably a bigger deal behind the scenes.
@sarah_from_sota Randle played when he wanted to on both sides of the ball. He needed to go, and he's gone. Obviously, demand was low or they would have gotten more. If his output and more importantly effort were consistent, he would still be here. Ant was definitely aware of the move in advance.
@badanglebball Wolves would have had to mortgage the entire team to get him, and he could walk in a year. Would have loved to see him here, but not at the price it would take.
At the start of 27-28, we literally would have had Ant and nobody. Which would mean Ant would force his way out also.
@DT13Hoops How do you know what they tried to do? Or might still do? There were rumors of going after Quentin Grimes, also a 76er. That pick could have been for something still to come. Certainly pure speculation on my part.
