@DorothyMcCabe@bikemayorwat@peckproject Very sorry to hear Arcy. My son just identified the bike and rider. We all chatted on a trail recently. The look on a 9yr old's face is something to see as he puts the pieces together, and likely knows it could easily be us. Priorities in a city are so messed.
@peckproject By the location of the bike and car, it appears the cyclist was riding west or east on Marshall, crossing with the light, and was hit by motorist driving south on Weber. Weber is a death trap, even when crossing at a signalized intersection.
@josh_orita@RegionWaterloo@citywaterloo I ride here weekly with my kids. We see the sign knocked down a few times per month. Kids now call the sign Flat Stanley. One of the most dangerous crossings we have to navigate. Thank you 4-lane roads in #autoloo โ ๏ธ
@bromptonymous We had an awesome ride up to Swartz Bay 2 yrs ago. Route was spectacular. Very cool to roll past long lines of traffic and easily board ferry, always let off first! We did NOT camp! Good luck. Next level. ๐ดโโ๏ธโค๏ธ
@m_druker True. But in a calmed streetscape like Uptown, being left in the middle of the road is still being treated like a pile of ๐ฉ by our engineers. They should understand this by now. Caroline was the first botch for peds. The rest of King is botch #2.
@josh_orita I don't wear a helmet while driving on the 401, but probably would driving on a race track. I don't often wear a helmet on urban trails, I do in a bike race. Maybe a comparison for our motoring culture?
@josh_orita Agree. Ever since I started riding more upright bikes to commute, my speed is slower and desire to wear a helmet is lower. My route is biggest deciding factor. Imagine pedestrians were shamed into strapping a styrofoam hat to their head. How many ppl would still desire to walk?
@STSWR@wrdsb@WCDSBNewswire@cyclewr Our school's bike club had as many as 21 riders out on the trail rides this fall! Fill those racks! ๐ดโโ๏ธ๐ดโโ๏ธ
