In this Kali Yuga, Ācāryāl was born in Kāladi as an avatāra of Īśvara. He undertook pādayātrā sañcāra throughout Bhārata deśā, doing bhakti pracāra. He sang about Panduranga, the Lord residing here and in Maharashtra, and composed verses on that temple:
प्रमाणं भवाब्धेरिदं मामकानां नितम्बः कराभ्यां धृतो येन तस्मात् ।(pramāṇaṃ bhavābdheridaṃ māmakānāṃ nitambaḥ karābhyāṃ dhṛto yena tasmāt ।
विधातुर्वसत्यै धृतो नाभिकोशः परब्रह्मलिङ्गं भजे पाण्डुरङ्गम् ॥ (vidhāturvasatyai dhṛto nābhikośaḥ parabrahmaliṅgaṃ bhaje pāṇḍuraṅgam ॥)

Panduranga stands with His hands on His hips, and through that posture He conveys a message. What does He indicate? For all bhaktās who live with bhakti, perform karma‑anushṭhāna, and follow śāstra sampradāya, saṃsāra sāgarā does not cause fear. He shows that, for them, the depth of the saṃsāra sāgara is only up to the waist.  Pramāṇaṃ bhavābdheḥ - bhavābdheḥ means bhava sāgarā (ocean of worldly existence).  For those with bhakti, the depth is only up to the waist. Thus, bhakti reduces the suffering and burden of saṃsāra sāgarā, conveys Panduranga, says Ācāryāl in this verse: परब्रह्मलिङ्गं भजे पाण्डुरङ्गम् ॥ (parabrahmaliṅgaṃ bhaje pāṇḍuraṅgam ॥ — I worship Panduranga, the very form of Parabrahman.

Whichever Svāmī we chant stotra to, every form is ultimately Paramātma. To help us understand and make bhakti easier, Bhagavān grants many forms for darśan as Pillaiyār, Rāma, and Kṛṣṇa. But in essence, we should cultivate āstikya (faith) towards Bhagavān. For that purpose, Ācāryāl composed many stotras for Rāma and Kṛṣṇa, and various other stotras, including Govindāṣṭakam, Narmadāṣṭakam, Gaṅgāṣṭakam, and Saundarya Lahari.
