It's been a true privilege to contribute my writing about @decarceratesac's work to "The Jail is Everywhere: Fighting the New Geography of Mass Incarceration". I hope it supports organizers around the world in combatting carceral expansion.
US law is clear: No nation blocking US humanitarian aid can receive US weapons.
Palestinian children are forced to eat pet food and bug infested flour, but @SecBlinken says there’s no need to change our policy. The Biden administration is refusing to comply with US law.
Vote NO on Prop 36.
It’s going to reinstitute long, mandatory prison terms for nonviolent offenses, eliminate safety, care, and prevention programs, and is funded by big box corporations like Walmart, shady dark money groups like the California Business Roundtable, private prisons, and sheriffs. It’s the largest one-time investment in CA’s prison system ever.
Spread the word.

Jose was arrested in San Mateo County, held on $50K bail & spent 8 days in jail. Lost job, housing & savings just to make bail. San Mateo judges are ignoring the Humphrey ruling, a CA Supreme Court decision that considers ability to pay + alternatives to detention pretrial. 1/2
"People shouldn't have to die for us to do basic public safety... because public safety isn't just somebody showing up after you've been hit, harmed, shot at, etc. Justice, for me, is not solving my murder succinctly. It's never being murdered in the first place. And I think that's what most people in this community believe as well." - Dr Flojaune Cofer

CW: An absolutely gut-wrenching letter by 99 American healthcare workers who were in Gaza. They describe unspeakable horrors, & expose the Israeli regime as nothing short of barbaric. Their est Gazan death toll is 118,908. This letter must be circulated.

@LVikkiml Yes, such a short period of time. I'm not sure if there is any option to access mail after that time. Sheriff Jim Cooper's election in 2022 has really made life inside much harder.
@LVikkiml This is already the case in Sacramento County, and has been terrible for folks inside. They've also implemented time restrictions on how long you can access the digital mail: I think 30 days.
In just 2 years (2019-2021), at least 178 people who called 911 were killed by the responding cops, according to WaPo. The killing of Sonya Massey, a 36 yr old Black woman, is the latest horror demonstrating why police are the antithesis to safety. Policing must be dismantled.
