It’s two days and Dr @Omarbebeji is still trending on twitter. This speaks volumes about the kind of Person he was and the life he lived. Heartfelt Condolences from every nook and cranny of the country. He’s wrapped in God’s mercies and resting comfortably in his final bed.

Answering the last call 3-days after returning from lesser Hajj is an ending many people will pray to have. A sore we will continue to bear, a vacuum that will never be filled and a space we may not occupy until end-time.

Thank you, Barrister, for the brotherly wings you spreaded for us to shelter under. You will forever be remembered both in our prayers and memories.

The passing of Mallam Umar Sani Bebeji has left the nation in mourning. Yet, beyond the grief, his life has delivered a profound lesson to all of us who are still alive.

Since news of his passing broke, tributes have poured in from every corner. People of different faiths, tribes, professions, and generations have spoken with one voice about his kindness, humility, generosity, sincerity, and the positive impact he had on their lives. Such overwhelming testimony is not something money can buy or position can command. It is the fruit of a life spent serving others with sincerity.

This should make every one of us pause and reflect. One day, our own names will be mentioned after we are gone. The question is: What will people honestly say about us? Will they remember us for the good we did, the lives we touched, and the mercy we showed? Or will they remember the hurt, injustice, and arrogance we left behind?

Allah reminds us in the Qur’an:

“And speak to people good words.” (Surah Al-Baqarah 2:83)

Goodness is not selective. It is not reserved only for those who look like us, worship like us, or come from the same tribe or social class. Islam teaches us to be just, compassionate, and kind to all people. A person’s background should never determine how we treat them. The best among us are those who are best in character.

The beautiful testimonies about Mallam Umar also bring to mind the famous hadith of the Prophet ﷺ. When a funeral passed by and the people praised the deceased, the Prophet ﷺ said:

“It has become certain (Paradise).”

Then another funeral passed by, and people spoke negatively about the deceased. The Prophet ﷺ said:

“It has become certain (Hell).”

When the companions asked why, he replied:

“You are Allah’s witnesses on earth.” (Sahih al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim)

This hadith does not encourage empty praise or unjust criticism. Rather, it reminds us that a person’s consistent character often becomes evident through the sincere testimony of those whose lives they touched. A life of righteousness leaves behind prayers, gratitude, and beautiful memories. A life of wrongdoing leaves behind regret and painful recollections.

The greatest wealth we can accumulate is not money, titles, or influence. It is a good name built on sincerity, kindness, justice, and service to humanity. These are the deeds that continue to speak long after we have returned to our Creator.

May Allah (SWT) forgive the shortcomings of Mallam Umar Sani Bebeji, expand and illuminate his grave, accept his good deeds, grant him Al-Jannatul Firdaus, and comfort his family, friends, students, and everyone whose life he touched.

May Allah also grant us the wisdom to live in a way that when our own time comes, people will remember us with sincere prayers, truthful praise, and lasting gratitude. Ameen.

Ya Allah it’s 2 of them Nura Idris Abubakar another NMS 95, both of them died in that accident. Nura was very close to my family in Zamfara. We were very close in NMS he took care of me like his little brother. May Allah rest both their souls and those who have died before us.
