I’m still wondering who exactly is advising Governor @ubasanius. Honestly, it’s baffling. Why can’t such basic things be done? Simple traffic management measures are nowhere to be seen. The street lights from Government House to Badiko have been out for so long that the entire stretch is pitch black at night. At the same time, Lugard Way too, right where the State House of Assembly is located still has no functional street lights either.

These are elementary, everyday things my brother. How hard can they be ?

ON THE ISSUE OF 25% PENSION CONTRIBUTION WITHDRAWAL

To access 25% of an individual’s pension contribution, the applicant must route the request through their Pension Fund Administrator (PFA), a mortgage bank, and a property developer. The funds are released only as payment for a mortgage-backed property.

The process attracts several charges: a fixed service fee of ₦100,000, a 3.5% bank deduction, and a 3% developer fee. For example, someone requesting about ₦2.9 million would incur roughly ₦300,000 in fees and receive roughly ₦2.6 million net.

This money is the applicant’s own pension savings; contributions made by both the employee and the government during years of service. So it is reasonable to question why access to a portion of it should be conditional on such charges.

How does this arrangement benefit the pension contributor? Why is this practice not receiving public scrutiny, and why is the government allowing it?

Finally, on ethical and religious grounds: is it even Halal to levy these deductions on a worker’s own retirement savings?
