There's a small window in life when your parents are healthy, your children are little, and everyone is happy and together. It feels like it will last forever, it won’t. Cherish every moment of it.
This is what Dario and Sama fear -
- the cost of fine tuned open source models trained on custom data was 95% less than the frontier models
- And they performed better than the frontier models
- And they could train them in less than 48 hours
The big AI labs have no moat..
Even at the enterprise level..
Any sane company would prefer a custom trained open source model instead of paying API pricing to Anthropic and Open AI
If open source keeps growing at the pace it is, frontier labs' business collapses..
only way out is oldest trick in manipulation - FUD -> Fear, Uncertainty, Death
Step 1 - Seed the psyop
- Test a swarm of agents trained to "hack"
- The swarm does what its supposed to do - hack
- Publish a report - AI is too dangerous
Step 2 - weed out the doubters
- Get an employee to quit your company
- Go viral saying both companies are not doing enough to self regulate AI
- AI is dangerous - will kill humanity by the end of the decade
Step 3 - Prepare for fruition
- write an "essay" to "pace the frontier"
- Advocate regulation
- Only a few holier than though companies get to build AI
- Scare the world into agreeing with AI Doom
- Effectively turn your competitors into criminals (genius business strategy)
Endgame -
- Become a cartel that controls AI (and the world)
- Raise prices (coz business is unsustainable... ofc)
- IPO (offload liability of said unsustainable business to the public)
Laugh all the way to the bank 🤑
Win!
Translation: our gross margins are getting competed down to 0 by open source models and our capex burn rate is too high.
Let’s maintain our margins with regulatory capture, ban open source models, and slow down the capex arms race. All with a virtue signaling cherry on top.
How to kill open source models in 3 simple steps:
- Create panic about frontier models.
- Have the biggest AI companies help write the “safety” rules. ← WE’RE HERE
- Make those rules so burdensome that open source can’t compete.
Art of the deal.
Billion dollar idea: Lovable for hardware
A new startup partners with a few factories in China that can ship parts in days
All you have to do is talk to the app about what you want and it follows the best possible hardware engineering practices and gets you the spec and allows you to order
Think of:
> desk lamps
> phone mounts
> custom decor
> electronic gadgets and more
For an additional price, it will come assembled ;)
Boom. Vibe hardware.
Ok this is starting to feel like a f*cking disaster.
The CEO of Anthropic just published an article admitting AI is already building the next generation of AI by itself.
He says within 6 to 12 months a rogue swarm could take over the entire internet and cause hundreds of billions of dollars in damage.
And what makes it scarier, Elon Musk just backed up everything Dario said.
All of this dropping just days after Jacob Coxon went viral with his warning about AI and the extinction of humanity.
Tell me this timing isn't strange.
With ai developing exponentially, hardware will be the next frontier of innovation. I don't think we'll be lugging around a phone in 10 years. Or type anything. We'll talk to an ai device that does everything for you - chat, code, organise & even find the best content to watch
Introducing - Lapis One
We believe everyone should have a small Linux computer at home, and we’ve been thinking about what your first mini PC should look like in the age of AI agents. At Pamir, we want to bring a new wave of fun, hands-on tech to everyone.
This is the textbook definition of a Greek gift. On the surface, OpenAI generously grants 10,000 top-tier mathematicians and elite engineers free access to their frontier models under the noble, philanthropic banner of accelerating scientific discovery, pushing the boundaries of human knowledge, and democratizing artificial intelligence.
But deep down in the cold reality of Silicon Valley capitalism, what they are actually doing is executing a massive, highly sophisticated intellectual heist. They are quietly gaining unrestricted, backdoor access to the raw, unfiltered, and unpublished works of the absolute finest minds in the global scientific community. Every single complex prompt, every mathematical query, every theoretical framework, and every line of experimental code fed into that system is a novel, groundbreaking idea that does not even exist yet in published academic literature or peer-reviewed journals.
OpenAI does not just provide a helpful service. Their corporate algorithms sit quietly behind the scenes, aggressively monitoring all chat logs, scraping the intellectual property, analyzing the logical steps, and meticulously piecing together these fragmented, brilliant ideas over several months. And just when the human researcher is finally on the absolute brink of putting everything together, OpenAI will ruthlessly assemble a digital army of 10,000 autonomous AI agents, burn $20 million worth of computational tokens, and brute-force the final mathematical steps.
Then, with the backing of their massive PR machine, corporate journalists, and tech influencers, they will proudly hold a press conference to claim that their proprietary chatbot has miraculously solved a Millennium Prize problem, completely, shamelessly erasing the human genius they systematically strip-mined to achieve it.
THIS IS HISTORY
I don't know if you realize what this means. My hands are shaking...
Are we seeing the first sign of emerging ASI (artificial superintelligence)? The first glimpses of an artificial intelligence beyond that of any human.
Navier–Stokes, no less... SOLVED BY AI! If confirmed, this is a historic milestone. It would be the second Millennium Prize Problem to be solved. The first was the Poincaré conjecture, solved by Grigori Perelman in his 2003 papers.
The implications of this make me think we’re past the point of just asking whether we’re on the verge of AGI (we possibly already are), and that we could be about to collide head-on with an exponential explosion of intelligence.
The singularity... Straight to ASI!
According to OpenAI, around 10,000 coordinated AI agents arrived at the solution in about 88 hours, plus another 17 for formalization and verification in Lean.
This is insane. Just 100 hours to find a solution to a problem that had remained unsolved for around 90 years! What's next?
HOLY SHIT.
Do not underestimate the power of this technology. These will soon be superhuman systems that can hack anything, revolutionize any field overnight, and acquire real power and resources. We have all witnessed the progress in each of these domains, and progress is not slowing.

A cousin once advised me to never make small talk with your auto driver cos they'll ask for more and in all these years not once has this turned out untrue.
The kinder I was the more they "took me for a ride"
