🎪Alas it will soon be a circus again under the next Labour PM, for reasons I gave when I lost: they won’t cut spending but they must
🤦🏻♂️It’s obvious Labour will continue imploding

So much of the commentary on Palestine today without much sense of the deep history. No this is unlikely to make much or any practical difference. But you can say this is a debt which has long been owed. The Palestinians expected state a century ago when the British took on the mandate. We didn’t deliver, scarpered in 48 and left chaos behind. For many, recognition is the least we can do- and long overdue.
Absolutely extraordinary exchange between Israel and China 👇 I've never seen such a heated exchange come out of top-level forum in China (this is from the 12th Beijing Xiangshan Forum that started yesterday), this normally never happens.
The guy speaking is Yan Xuetong, the dean of the Institute of International Relations at Tsinghua University, the most prestigious university in China.
Speaking for Israel is a military officer apparently called Elad Shoshan.
Yan Xuetong truly doesn't hold back:
- When the Israeli officer tries to bullshit him around how Israel supposedly protects civilians in Gaza, he replies: "You killed more than 70,000 civilians!... The fact is not decided by you... It is not decided by your government. Your government has no legitimacy or the right to decide or defend what is fact"
- And when told that the war will end when Hamas release hostages he replies: "No, this kind of propaganda have too many. No one believe it! Too many! Too much! No one believe it, except a few Israelis"
Why is the government continuing to provide military support to a country that is committing genocide?
My letter to the Foreign Secretary, following the UN report confirming that Israel is committing genocide in Gaza.
In the face of genocide in Gaza, silence and inaction are not an option.
The latest UN report, coupled with the intensifying attacks by Israel on Gaza City, must be a wake up call for the UK government.
The Israeli government must be held to account, including sanctions.
Just last week, the UK Government had said that Israel wasn’t committing genocide because it wasn’t acting ‘with intent’.
Today, the UN have said what we already know about Israel’s actions over the past 23 months that: ‘It is clear that there is an intent to destroy the Palestinians in Gaza’.
If the Government cannot end all military and political support & cooperation with Israel now, it will find itself being asked questions by the ICJ in the very near future.
Shame on all who denied this, including our own government who just last week ruled that Israel is not committing genocide.
Those who are complicit will be bought to justice.
We must finally end all arms sales to Israel and put in place effective sanctions to end the genocide.
