Some days, I think I would give up everything to live that life again; a chaotic little demon dancing in my heart, making me feel with an intensity that was utterly intoxicating. So much lost in the meaning between words.
I don't think there's a bridge back to it.
Something I don’t see freelancers talk about enough is the fear of punishment- the constant dread that if you take time off, you are unwell or simply don’t work fast enough you’re gonna lose customers, followers or get called for not delivering.
It’s extremely debilitating.
I think I've reached the point of creative collapse; I haven't touched a paintbrush in over a year.
I guess after years of "Okay, don't worry, I'll figure something out" to learned helplessness in my work, personal and love lives, it's just too much.
WotC with their fingers in my pocket makes a drastic mis-step.
Now there's 30 other guys - claiming a principled stance - suddenly getting ready to try to put their fingers in my pocket.
The more things change in niche hobby spaces, the more they stay the same.
