A huge team out in Darras Hall this afternoon despite the cold temperatures! 🥶
Despite being a traditionally Conservative area, lots of support for change, frustration at the Conservatives and enthusiasm for our Town Council candidate Michael Clarke!
By taking joint action with @SunderlandUK, @northumbriapol, @SunderlandBID and our Violence Reduction Unit we have seen a huge reduction in ASB (80%+) and burglary (60%+) in Sunderland city centre. Today people told us they feel safer. Happy first birthday to the SAIL project.
Hexham Branch is getting more and more active. Fantastic turnout today. Out in #HaydonBridge tomorrow. Lots of support for @Joe_Morris91 on the doorstep. #VoteLabour#LabourDoorstep
Whatever happens this evening, thank you to all the members, councillors, trade unions and affiliates who have endorsed and to everyone who has sent a private message of support. Tonight, we can select Hexham's first Labour MP - a candidate with local roots and a national voice.
Annette has been a member for over 40 years and has been a friend since I first joined the party.
She knows how close we have come in the past and that this time will be different if we have a candidate from our community with national experience, we will win in Hexham🌹
Fixing our broken social care system is vital to reducing pressure on our NHS. As our MP, I'll work with Unison to drive improvements to social care.
My Grandma's experience shows how much we need reform. I want to see carers paid properly and loved ones treated with dignity.
I’m backing @Joe_Morris91 to be the FIRST @UKLabour MP for Hexham. Joe loves the constituency he’s from. He knows many in Hexham are struggling with the cost of living crisis and that rural areas have been neglected by the Tories. He’ll fight for change and a Labour Government.
Great to have the support of @PaulBrannenNE - a fantastic former MEP for the North East and a former parliamentary candidate for Hexham.
Paul knows what it takes to win across the region and I'm delighted to have his endorsement.
Delighted to be backed by USDAW. Like many people, I worked in retail at the Corbridge Co-Op when I was younger and I know the vital contribution retail workers make to our communities.
I’m looking forward to working with USDAW to reduce the violence faced by shop workers.
Incredibly honoured to be shortlisted to be Labour's candidate for my home.
It's vital that we win Hexham to secure the Labour majority this country so desperately needs.
Can't wait to speak to more members in the weeks to come.
It's so important that we win in Hexham, because victory here at home can transform the country and build the fairer society we desperately need. Very grateful to have Graham's support.
