When I met @Wangchuk66 yesterday he said that Winter is over-All is Well Now!
“Now that the winter is over I’m telling you that this was the coldest winter in my life. People say, but you are from #Ladakh. Yes, but in Ladakh we have good preparations. Our passive solar heated houses stay at +18 deg C, others heat with bukharis. I have done hunger strikes outdoor in -25 deg C; I have even been to Antartica. And for that we are prepared. But this was the coldest experience in bed at night so far. Here it was +6 deg C outside and +6 deg C indoors. My big hall cell of cement and stone has 10 windows with only iron bars, no shutters. When strong winds blow the real feel temperature is around 2 deg C (with wind chill effect). It’s exactly like sleeping under a bridge in Delhi. And in jail there is no concept of bed or mattress or pillow-only blankets on cold concrete floor- they were kind to give extra blankets, but nothing to stop the winds from all the window openings.
But imagine-the borewell water running in pipes outside my door is at 25 deg C - a free resource - hence i wanted to design a no cost, zero carbon floor-hearing system using this water - that would also serve as a cooling system in hot summers for all the barracks in all the prisons across India. I hope I will get support and simple instruments like the thermometers from the jail authorities or permission from court to work on this innovation!”
#freesonamwangchuknow so that he can continue his fine work in education and innovation.

Never underestimated what brutality this regime is capable of; but also remarkable how the Govt. knows that public memory is short - that no one really gives a shit after a few days...
Today’s hearing on @Wangchuk66’s detention: less “arguments”, more “audiobook”—a live recital of the NSA with no clear linkage to any judgment by the #SGI. With ~90,000 cases pending in the #SupremeCourtofIndia, every hour matters. Based on the Court’s ~₹1,000 cr annual budget, each hour costs ~₹10 lakh (estimated). ~10 hours already spent ≈ ₹1 crore of public money. Efficient hearings = faster disposals = lighter burden on the exchequer. #CourtEfficiency

‘If we’re not at table, we’re on menu’
Arguably one of the finest speeches of our times & one of the most brutally honest ones - that admit to farce that international rules based order has become.
At Davos, Canada PM @MarkJCarney urges middle powers to unite & stand up to the hegemons of the world or risk being consumed by them.
A True Innovator at heart. @Wangchuk66 asked me to bring him his books on earth architecture when I visit him next. He wants to do building experiments using Jodhpur clay at the Central Jail!
Another #theshawshankredemption in the making! The Indian one!!
Is India really free?
In 1857, 24,000 Britishers used 135,000 Indian sepoys to oppress 300 million Indians under orders from the Queen.
Today, a dozen administrators are misusing 2400 Ladakhi police to oppress and torture 3 lakh Ladakhis under the orders of the MHA!
#FreeSonamWangchuk #SaveLadakh
I have sent this representation for the immediate release of Shri Sonam Wangchuk to the President of India, Prime Minister of India, Home Minister, Law Minister of India, and the LG of Ladakh, with a cc to DC Leh.
The Pakistan narrative about Sonam Wangchuk is false and defamatory. We were invited for a UN climate conference where he praised Mr Modi for initiatives like Simply Life.

Anti-national? @Wangchuk66 builds thermal shelters so the Indian army sleeps warm. Fake slogans wither. His service to the Nation endures.
#SonamWangchuk#IndianArmy
Which anti-national commands love and respect and has audience with Generals and Core Commanders of the Indian Army? Which anti-national builds solar homes so that jawans and officers stay warm and fight effectively?
#SonamWangchuk#indianarmy
Sonam Wangchuk has done more good things for India than all BJP leaders combined.
They are targeting him because they cannot tolerate educated people who speak up for their rights. They want everyone to be dumb Andhbhakts. It is similar to how Hitler targeted Albert Einstein.
DOESN'T LADAKH DESERVE BETTER ?
An independent Kingdom reduced to a place with no local democracy.
This way it's fragile ecology & unique culture will be destroyed in no time. And that will be a huge loss for humanity & the planet.

Educated Indian elite - I count myself in this - accepted what is known as the "Washington Consensus", with globalization driven by the World Economic Forum, Davos.
That era received a mortal blow during the Global Financial Crisis in 2008-9, died during the pandemic and today we perform the last rites.
Here is how I believe we should navigate this new era, treating this challenge as an opportunity.
1. Every tech we do not have is deep tech and I do not mean LLMs (alone) here and it includes advanced metallurgy, composite materials, DC motors, batteries, medical equipment, network equipment, drones, jet engines, robots, bioreactors and so on and on.
2. A 5-10 year sprint to catch up in every such "basic deep tech". In some areas, like GPUs or fighter jets, it may take 10-15 years, but we must put our heads down and do it. China has done it and it can be done. We have the raw human talent in abundance and we can train. This much I know.
3. We need a long term orientation. Venture capital with 7-8 year exit cycles cannot do it. It promotes a short termism that is at odds with what our nation needs right now. More broadly, quarterly earnings cycles are a poor match for the long term catch up investment we have to make. This essentially mandates that our big industrial houses must invest heavily in R&D, keeping in mind that catch-up R&D (in particular) is not expensive, it is time-intensive.
4. More broadly, we don't want our smartest talent going into high finance - we must realize we are borrowing what failed America. It is a colossal misallocation of resources. The mortal blow of the GFC I referred to was all due to "smartest talent going into finance" in America and ultimately that is what led to MAGA, once Occupy-Wall-Street failed with the left - it is a different matter that MAGA got coopted by Wall Street.
India cannot afford to be addicted to high finance, it would lead to societal ruin. We must view making money on money with the appropriate caution that our ancients taught us.
5. I will come back to talent, the most important point of all. There is a lot of raw young talent in rural Bharat that is waiting for the opportunity. Patient capital is about nurturing this talent, bring it on stream.
Once you discover what we have discovered, you will stop fighting about reservation and so on. My own R&D team reflects our society in a deep way and without any compulsion from the government. JEE, NEET, UPSC etc do not capture the essence of this talent pool. I do not care about any of those exams, I ignore all those "signals" and go with the evidence of our own eyes to discover and nurture talent.
6. Climate change. Have you noticed how quickly the silicon valley elite dumped climate change and got on board the "energy to the max" with AI? We need EI - Energy-efficient Intelligence. Climate change is also a life style issue and Bharat has to be the light to the world in showing how to live in harmony with mother nature while building a technologically advanced society. Bharat Mata is mother nature.
We have faced far worse adversity before and we will face this. If we seize this moment, we will come to see it as a blessing in the long term.
Bharat Mata ki Jai 🙏
To
The People of India,
Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation @mybmc
Respected Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Shri Devendra Fadnavis @Dev_Fadnavis
Hon. Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi @narendramodi
I am not an activist. I am not here to fight or tear anyone down. I am writing to you as a citizen of our country, a fellow Indian, with a basic yet fundamental right—the right to clean air.
Every day, I see people around me in Mumbai getting sicker. I feel it in my own body too. The air we breathe is no longer just air—it is harming our lungs, our hearts, and our future. We cannot ignore this any longer.
Today, I have a humble yet urgent plea to our Respected Chief Minister, our Honorable Prime Minister, and the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation. Please reconsider the allocation of funds for something the city does not need right now.
Mumbai does not need a giant Ferris wheel. What we need—what we desperately need—is clean air.
I appeal to every citizen of India, to parents, educators, and school principals. You know absenteeism in schools is rising. You see children struggling with breathing issues, missing out on their education and their childhood. I appeal to doctors, who witness the growing number of patients with respiratory illnesses. Pediatricians, you know how many young children are suffering from asthma and lung infections caused by polluted air.
To personal trainers, athletes, and fitness enthusiasts—I ask you to pause and reflect. We encourage people to exercise, to run, to train for a healthier life. But what happens when they do this in toxic air? Are we truly helping them, or are we unknowingly harming them?
This is also a heartfelt appeal to nutritionists, doctors, wellness experts, and health influencers. You know that food and medicine alone cannot fix this. No superfood, no supplement, no treatment can undo the damage that breathing polluted air does to our bodies every single day.
And to celebrities, athletes, and people with influence—your voice matters. You have the power to bring attention to this crisis. Let us use our platforms not just for endorsements but for a cause that impacts every single Indian. Let us urge our leaders to focus on what we truly need as human beings.
We cannot afford to be mere bystanders anymore. This is not resilience. This is a slow surrender.
We have children and aging parents struggling to breathe. We have newborns taking their first breaths of air that should never enter fragile lungs. The future of our health does not depend on just more medicine, more nutrition, or more meditation. It depends on the basics—the right to clean air, clean water, and clean food.
I do not claim to have all the answers. But I do know this—the money allocated for a Ferris wheel could be used to clean the air in our city.
This is not about fighting. This is about uniting. Hatred and anger will not solve this crisis, but our collective voice, our unwavering plea for change, will.
To every parent watching their child suffer, to every citizen who wakes up to a smog-filled skyline—speak up. Our voice matters.
During the COVID-19 pandemic when the nation rallied for health and wellness, Hon. Prime Minister, your amazing Fit India Movement @FitIndiaOff nominated me as the Wellness and Lifestyle Champion. Today, I carry that responsibility forward. My humble plea is that we need clean air, not just for fitness, but for a healthier, stronger, and cleaner India.
Let us not wait for another crisis to act. We are with you. Let's act together now.
With humility, respect, urgency, and hope,
Luke Coutinho

A SAD DAY FOR DEMOCRACY
On 8th day of fast, 61 people doing a Moun Vrat on Ekadashi to #SaveLadakh#SaveHimalayas were forcibly detained.
We were told BNSS 163 (144) prohibitory orders were permanently applied in entire New Delhi district. This I think is against the spirit of the constitution of India aricle 19- freedom of speech & movement.
Firstly continuous application and 2ndly is it 'reasonable' to use it on people fasting peacefully!!!
What do you think. Do please advise in comments.
दिल्ली पुलिस का नया नियम : आम नागरिक थाने के अंदर नहीं जा सकता !
Delhi Police has detained @Wangchuk66 for more than 24 hours. This code of conduct is very illegal.
आप थाने में सीधा नही जा सकते, थाने के अंदर शिकायत करने के लिए आपकी पैरवी होनी चाहिए। क्या बकवास है !!
