@TwuSamuelsen@sam_d_1995@PeteSikora1@TWULocal100 I was CWA for years, and I fully get the union being behind it's existing members. But public sector unions that oppose best practices and efficiency gains when using tax payer money for government services create a problem. Fight for pay, benefits, and QOL, not bad practices
@NYCMayor@ZohranKMamdani I think it'll be an interesting experiment at least. As explained in the Tweet it's basically a jobs program plus specific product (groceries) subsidies rolled into one. I question the efficiency and efficacy, but not the motivation.
@selectsand@nxthompson It would be nice if we could get to the point where government run services are not also just jobs programs and start caring about efficiency among some groups who seem to think otherwise.
@Noahpinion@PercivalSweetw2 AA needs work, but AA has more domestic flights than anyone else. It needs new management, but they are slowly making moves that could result in improving experience. Market cap is $7B would be interesting if it were taken private and invested in.
@matthewstoller bankruptcy and liquidations should happen in competitive industries, especially high capital, low margin ones like airlines. The fact the we haven't had more is a indictment of government intervention, not deregulation.
@realdocspeaks Opt+in is fine, but at least as I read Mark's description it would leave a tremendous number of people unable to participate. At least Mark is looking for workable alternatives, I agree.
@humantransit@NewUrbanism Yeah, on the transit side the location can be bad and it's a fair call out, but I'd say you're still better off with a new urbanist or other non-post war suburb design than the usual alternative. You'll at least get more walking.
@sam_d_1995@ApoStructura We have an 8 lane bridge with a 100k AADT, that TD interchange is bigger. The OPs argument on total value is right, but yes a multi flyover can definitely move that level of vehicles/people. It's locally value destroying instead of value creating for the subway though.
