You can’t outwork a bad system.
In 2021, the salary for a mid level engineer in Nigeria was between 300k to 400k. 5 years later, most of those engineers are now seniors, and would need to earn 900k to 1.2m in today’s money to have an equivalent of what they earned in 2021.
5 years of continuous personal and professional development yet they’d still struggle to earn what they earned in 2021.
Tech salaries are generally better than most other jobs. Now imagine someone else with a job in another industry who was underpaid in 2021.
When I say all women are feminists, I mean ALL.
My mum, your mum, your sister (never had one thank universe 🙏🏾), your woman. Yes your outlier woman.
The difference is the degree of radicalization. Might be in drops or excess or in between.
learn to go where wealthy people go. you don’t have to spend like them, you just have to stop feeling like you don’t belong there.
i remember when i couldn’t afford the lifestyle i wanted yet.
every friday evening, i’d walk into a high end hotel lobby, order one coffee, sit in the same corner and open my laptop like i belonged there. nobody knew i was going back to a small brokie apartment after 😂 all they saw was someone comfortable in that environment. week after week, something changed.
i stopped feeling like an outsider. i studied how people spoke, how they carried themselves, how deals were discussed and how confidence looked in real life.
one night, a man approached me cos he assumed i was a regular. that conversation opened a door to an opportunity i wasn’t qualified for on paper but i carried myself like i was. do you know that months later, my reality caught up with that environment i had been exposing myself to. nothing magical happened. i simply stopped seeing that world as theirs and started seeing it as a place i belonged too
i will repeat this again;
if you spend all day at a fish market, you’ll leave smelling like fish even if you never touched one but spend your day in a perfume shop and you’ll carry the scent even if you didn’t buy anything, that’s how environment works. it rubs off, whether you realize it or not. the scent of your environment will always follow you.
wealth starts with familiarity before it starts with money. your mind has to accept a reality before ur life can build it. learn something, buena suerte.
No one is above criticism
Women are not angels who do no wrong
If there are promiscuous women, call them out
If there are inconsiderate women, call them out
If there are materialistic women, call them out
As long as you don't end up with any of the 3, you're not a hypocrite

Young King,
Feed some of your vanities. At some point in life, you would wish you did. And you can only wish you did something that you were capable of doing.
Therefore, some of those small vanities you can afford, explore them. Uwa bu ofu mbia.
There is no level of sunk cost that will be enough for me to negotiate my freedom.
The one time I was stupid enough to over-invest without reciprocity, I still walked when it became clear to me I was being finessed.
No tangible reward, several sacrifices made, sex still being dangled as a carrot.
And I left it all. There is no price I will not pay for my freedom. None.
To those of you posting My gurl bought Me gifts on My Birthday.
Just one day you’ll come out & tell us the Exchange rate of what you’ve spent to get a gift of 100k.
I have been part of major bank acquisitions before and have seen other business consolidations happen, thanks to my family. I have been fascinated with M&As for a long time. My MBA thesis was on Nigerian M&A activity in the 90s.
As a small business owner, I have had merger and acquisition offers for the business we started in the 90s, but neither panned out. One was a genuine offer to merge from someone with an INSEAD MBA who would later raise $200m to buy others like us. The other was from a large corporation that later decided it was cheaper to hire our engineering team from under us.
Both experiences taught me different business lessons about exits. They are not common in Africa because founders are never mentally prepared for them, so they often make mistakes. Many don't survive the mistakes.
An exit has two parts: preparation and execution. The preparation part is largely a mental exercise before processes kick in. I started a business with my friend, and my entire existence was defined by it; an offer out of the blue to merge took me by surprise.
The offer came because we had done some things right. The paralysis happened because I was not prepared at all for this option. This is why I always ask new founders today what they see as the endgame. Every business should have an exit strategy because founders don't live forever. My co-founder Salil died in February. I almost died in June.
While mortality is a good reason to consider exits, most small business owners often dream of continuity within the family, but the chances of that happening are slim to none. I still remember the bales of clothes and drinks my late paternal grandmother left behind after her death and how none of the children became traders. The world changed, and priorities became different.
Africans notoriously do poor estate planning and are even worse at ensuring business continuity. The result of these is viable but stranded assets everywhere. I have a more recent family experience with my late mother-in-law's hospital. It is an asset performing well below its potential that could have benefited from an exit. You can sell a business and not the property it sits on. You can still rent your property to the business.
There are many angles to handle execution from, as exits take so many forms. The most important thing is the willingness to sell and the willingness to buy. We are taking the step to normalize both sides of this with https://t.co/deudTQSxeQ.
By the way, this will not only be about small businesses, but it will also be about ALL types of exits, partial or full. Nothing too small and nothing too big. I never knew how deep and extensive this could be until I started the process, and it almost consumed me with sleepless nights of research, resulting in poor health.
Something I found out in 2017, thanks to Google Launchpad, sowed this seed. Matt Mossman of College Heights, now of Pelion, mentioned that 98% of all exits in Silicon Valley are acquisitions. IPOs are the exception and not the rule. More American millionaires are created from acquisitions than IPOs. This can also happen in Africa.
This will be a marathon and not a sprint. Let's get it on!
OK, I am launching what I have been working on that almost killed me. It is called https://t.co/VZUfbkIVnY. People can sell businesses there, and others can also find bargains. This is a perfect exit scenario. You don't have to close up a business when you can sell it.
Masculinists are calling for Men to do better.. encouraging them to be Family oriented while reprimanding weak Men and simps coz they’re dangerous to the society.
Feminists on the other hand are fighting for Equality.. and in the same vein, supporting Women that are selling their bodies to make Money from same Men they’re fighting to be equals with.. and label it “Empowerment”
Such a digressive movement.
Don't try to control outcomes directly. Don't push, argue, explain. The smarter move is to control conditions. Set the structure so the outcome you want becomes the easiest path. People follow convenience more than instruction.
You stand up to shake someone's hand. If you don't know everyone in the room, you introduce yourself. You shake hands firmly, make eye contact, and treat everyone with the same respect.
Warehouse operative,CEO, teacher, cleaner or lawyer, it makes no difference.
