In a significant victory for NAPO, the compromise Fiscal 2026 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) was released last night and incorporated much of our priority legislation that we have been working to include: the Honoring our Fallen Heroes Act, the Improving Police CARE Act, the PROTECT Our Children Reauthorization Act, the Chief Herbert D. Proffitt Act, and comprehensive counter-UAS authorities for state and local law enforcement and corrections. We are actively working to see these important provisions advance through Congress as part of the NDAA.

NAPO is appalled by the purported statements of Virginia Attorney General candidate Jay Jones regarding the killing of police officers. It is disgusting for anyone, let alone a public official, to state that if more cops were killed there would be less officer involved shootings. Our men and women in uniform are risking their lives day in and day out to protect our communities and this is the support they get from the person running for Attorney General? Mr. Jones is unfit to hold any public office.
