This is beyond unacceptable. Football fans around the world must stand in solidarity with Omar, a true football talent and referee who represents integrity, knowledge, and fairness.
When people like Omar are treated unjustly, the entire football community must speak up.

FIFA confirms Somali referee Omar Abdulkadir Artan will be unable to officiate at the World Cup after he was denied entry into the United States.
FIFA says was “informed by authorities that Mr Artan’s status will not be changed at present” & is host country who determines visas
H.E: @MAbdirizak : maybe you don’t really know Ainanshe that well, or what he has actually been standing for lately.
Is he trying to buy sympathy just to skip ahead and join the SL agenda, like so many others have done before him? If so, he can probably do it for free without trying too hard.
Honored today to be recognized by the Minnesota House of Representatives in a bipartisan resolution reaffirming support for Somali Americans and their contributions to the cultural, civic, social, and economic life of this great state.
Minnesota has shown that diversity is not a weakness but a strength. I am deeply grateful to the House members from both parties who stood together in affirming the dignity, inclusion, and belonging of Somali Americans.
As someone who arrived in the United States seeking refuge after the collapse of Somalia, this moment was deeply personal. Thank you, Minnesota, for continuing to be a place where immigrants can contribute, serve, and belong. #mnhouse #mnleg
Last week in Oslo, @Noreaf19 hosted an evening with the Governor of the Central bankof Somalia focused on Somalia’s economic development, financial reforms and recent debt relief process.
The discussion explored Somalia’s economic transformation in recent years, the rebuilding of financial institutions, and the challenges and opportunities facing the country going forward.
With contributions from Peter Henriksen Ringstad (@noradno ), Hamdi A. Mohamed and moderator Thea Sofie Rusten Grastvei.
Thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to a thoughtful and engaging discussion.
Recordings will be shared soon.

Last week @Noreaf19 hosted its annual Iftar gathering, bringing together young Norwegian-Somali leaders, student leaders, academics, policymakers and representatives from organisations and community initiatives.
We were pleased to welcome the Minister of Labour and Inclusion, @Kjerstistenseng , and the Minister of International Development, Åsmund Grøver Aukrus.
During the evening, the ministers shared the government’s initiatives and priorities related to inclusion, youth participation, and cooperation with Somali authorities.
Nearly 40 participants contributed to the discussions, sharing experiences and initiatives from their work in local communities. The conversations reflected the strong momentum and positive change currently taking place within the Norwegian-Somali community.
We thank the ministers and their teams for their participation and for the excellent coordination leading up to the event.

Waa run, laakiin on the other hand, there are many girls and young women in the West who grow up without a strong father figure and witness how traumatic it was for their mothers to raise children alone. Over time, this can create unresolved anger, mistrust, and negative views toward men, which are then carried into adult relationships and marriages, turning them into battlegrounds for unresolved childhood conflicts.
A brother from another Muslim country once told me, after being married to a Somali woman: “Strong Somali mothers( Allahumma barik), often raise semi-men women, not women in their natural feminine form. And that’s something not all men can handle.
The DPM @SalahJama killed two birds with one stone: first, exposing Trump’s stupidity, and second, using the opportunity to strengthen ties with a country of over one billion people.
What a brilliant video.
@AbukarOsman1 is an experienced and articulate diplomat, the kind Somalia needs in a critical moment. That is precisely why many Somalis were disappointed.
Mentioning Somali clans at the UN Security Council was unnecessary. The framing of the late-1980s killings in the north-west and Togdheer regions amounted to a rejection of established facts. These were state crimes against civilians, officially acknowledged by Somalia and President @M_Farmaajo .
Crimes committed by SNM in Awdal in 1991, or killings in Laascaanood in 2007-2023, do not justify denying or distorting other atrocities. Accountability cannot be selective.
Somalia’s diplomacy must unite and heal. A clarification from the Somali UN mission is needed.
I don’t agree with Israel 🇮🇱 talking about genocide 💯 but to claim representing all somali and deny what happened to hargeysa is unbelievable! In lais xaqiro somali lagumawada ahaankaro 💯😳
The experienced diplomat Ciro, “the Silent Assassin,” has benefited greatly from Somalia’s biggest diplomatic, political, and strategic failures since it was established as a state in 1960. He understood early where the geopolitical wind was blowing and turned the boat in that direction. It paid off.
While Ciro’s/SL steps were cold, strategic, and calculated, Somalia’s main official diplomatic direction has often been reduced to one thing: who pays us the most right now, in cash.
There are real geopolitical, economic, and diplomatic risks and most importantly, security risks. The Houthi movement are operating less than 100 km from Somaliland’s most important port. That matters.
This is not about emotions or slogan( Soomaalinimo), this is about geopolitics, learn f how to play the game.
Wtf? Do you do any fact-checking at all before opening your mouth? Or do you seriously think people are stupid?
Three facts you keep getting wrong:
1.Ilhan Omar came to the U.S. through family-based immigration, not marriage. She was a child when she arrived.
2.The man shown in the photo is not her brother — he is her former husband and the father of her three children, despite what you and Trump keep claiming.
3.She was elected by hundreds of thousands of votes, and Somali voters make up only about 3% of the total electorate in her district.
It’s honestly embarrassing to watch a Somali businessman be this confused about basic facts, while repeating narratives straight out of Trump-era white-supremacist propaganda targeting the Somali community and Ilhan Omar.
What’s worse is seeing a grown Somali man seek validation from Trump’s hate base — people who don’t distinguish between Somali clans or regions, or identities.
This is pure disinformation and propaganda aimed at Somalis, especially Ilhan.
And let’s be clear: if association with the Siad Barre regime is considered a crime, then the current president of Somaliland would also be implicated — he served as Somalia’s ambassador to the Soviet Union, Siad Barre’s main arms supplier.
The irony here is that MAGA racists and Trump’s hate cult don’t have the mental capacity or logical understanding to realize when their own game has been torn apart and used against them.
My tribute to my dad, who passed away last month in the UK.
He was a proud Indian immigrant *and* a proud British citizen.
His life story is one long rebuttal to the nativists, bigots and xenophobes.
Somalia’s President, @HassanSMohamud, has today received the Letters of Credence from Norway’s new Ambassador to Somalia, H.E. @NorwayAmbKenya
On behalf of the Somali diaspora in Norway, we extend our warm congratulations to the new Ambassador and wish her every success in her assignment. We hope that her tenure will contribute to further strengthening the bilateral relationship between Norway and Somalia.
We also express our sincere gratitude to former Ambassador H.E. Gunnar Andreas Holm for his cooperation, his engagement with the Somali diaspora community in Norway, and his consistent accessibility throughout his service. @NorwayInSomalia
An important message for Africans from one of Africa’s richest industrialists and one of East Africa’s most influential business leaders, Narendra Raval, the Chairman of the Devki Group.
Here is a man who built his wealth not through shortcuts, fake miracles or empty promises, but through hard work, discipline and a clear understanding that progress comes from using your mind, not outsourcing your life to prophets and fantasies.
I am honored to have met Norway’s Special Envoy to Somalia, Einar Rystad, and Narve Nub Kveseth, Somalia focal point at the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, together with Said Maad of NOREAF, at the Ministry in Oslo. I had the opportunity to present to them my new book, Somalia: A State in Search of Exceptional Leadership, and we also discussed the failure of the Western-developed state model in Somalia and the need for an alternative approach.
On August 23, 2024, we had the honor of welcoming distinguished guests whose presence and insights made our international conference in Oslo truly historic.
We were privileged to be joined by:
•Naima Hassan H. Mohamoud, Chairperson of the Justice and Human Rights Committee in the Upper House of the Federal Parliament of Somalia.
•Falhada Dekow Iman, Member of the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA), former Senator in the Kenyan Parliament, and the first Somali woman to serve in EALA, representing a region of more than 343 million citizens.
•Ambassador Dr. Khadija Osoble Ali, Somalia’s Ambassador to the EU, Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg, who has also served as Minister of State, Member of Parliament, Electoral Commissioner, and Senior Adviser to Somalia’s leadership.
We extend our sincere gratitude to these inspiring leaders for their wisdom, vision, and commitment.
Their voices and contributions helped shape a day that will be remembered for many years to come — for Somalia, for East Africa, and for diaspora communities here in Norway. 🌍✨

On August 22, @Noreaf19 had the honor of being part of the discussions in an important meeting between #Norway and #Somalia .
Norway’s State Secretary for Labour and Social Inclusion, Kjetil Vevle, welcomed Somalia’s Minister of Family and Human Rights Development, Khadija Mohamed Al-Makhzoumi.
The meeting addressed several key issues affecting both the Somali Norwegian diaspora and developments in Somalia. Representing both NOREAF and the voice of the Somali diaspora, our Senior Political Advisor @AbdullahiAlason took part in the meeting.
We look forward to constructive follow-up and to seeing solutions that can benefit both Norway, Somalia, and the diaspora communities.
