Ajeet Bariya, 21, a resident of Mandla, Madhya Pradesh, developed severe breathing difficulties.
His father called the State Govt’s 108 helpline, explained his son's condition, and specifically requested oxygen support. Although the ambulance arrived an hour later, the attendants refused to give oxygen without a doctor’s prescription.
Upon arriving at the nearest govt hospital, the attending doctor reprimanded the ambulance staff for their negligence, ordered them to administer oxygen immediately, and referred Ajeet to the district hospital.
While the staff finally administered oxygen for the transfer, the supply ran out halfway to the hospital, and Ajeet died gasping for breath. Videos of his distraught family weeping at the district hospital have since surfaced online; one of them shows Ajeet struggling for air in the ambulance, though it is too sensitive to share.
Most state-funded ambulance services function like this. They operate as if they are merely transport vehicles rather than the first link in the chain of emergency medical care. Ambulances often arrive late, staff frequently lack emergency medical training, and life-saving equipment is missing, outdated, non-functional, or poorly maintained. There are no clearly enforced SOPs, little accountability, inadequate supervision, and almost no meaningful quality audits.

Can real estate developers renumber flats to avoid the 'unlucky' 13th floor? Here's what MahaRERA observed 👇
A housing society near Mumbai, complained in Maharashtra RERA lleging that the developer had renumbered the apartments on the 13th floor as 1401, 1402, and so on, effectively erasing the number 13 from the building.
MahaRERA said if the developer believed the number 13 was inauspicious, it should have factored while taking building approval.
After getting approval, developers cannot renumber merely because number 13 is unlucky, MahaRERA said.

Mumbai Rail Restoration updates
Mumbai Pune (CR) rail traffic will take a few days to restore as the damage is extensive between Monkey Hill and Thakurwadi (Khandala Ghat section.) A total of 200 labour is deployed in the ghat section for restoration and 200 more labour is being mobilised.
Mumbai Surat (WR) rail traffic will be likely restored by night as water near Virar- Vasai recedes.
Mumbai-Pune missing link traffic will be restored tonight.
Every time I map hazard incidents in India, it is clear to me, we have a problem with: "What we build, Where we build, and How we build"
On the incident of landslide in Wayanad, the rainfall was definitely heavy in the region but it is not enough to trigger landslides. It should be noted that it is not just the soil that was dumped got eroded, but also that the headwall of the tunnel had collapsed and hence it is a failure of design, construction management and practice.
I don't think this is a problem with an individual or one company. This is widespread across India right now.
We need to revisit our design standards, hazard zoning, construction practices and monitoring related laws and systems specifically for hazard prone areas, capacity building for these practices, and assure adherence.

At 1st glance, this list looks highly confusing. Why on earth would the Ministry of Health issue a hard chemical ban on basic things like Aloe Vera, Jojoba Oil & Vitamin E alongside heavy antibiotics & painkillers?
If we look closely at numbers 5 through 16 on this list. They are all skin creams/lotions/anti-acne gels combining Aloe Vera, Tea Tree Oil & Vitamin E.
In our country, if a company wants to launch a new single-ingredient drug/a standard pharmaceutical cream, they have to go through multi-year central approvals (rigorous + expensive) with the DCGI (Drugs Controller General of India).
However, for decades, state-level licensing authorities had lax boundaries on what is called a Fixed-Dose Combination. If a pharma company mixed a standard chemical with a natural base like Aloe Vera/Jojoba Oil, they could register it as a unique proprietary new combination at the state level, completely bypassing central safety scrutiny & clinical validation.
A few might think our govt banned Aloe Vera. In reality, they banned these unscientific, uncharacterized commercial mixtures because companies could not provide peer-reviewed data proving that mixing these exact % of oils actually did anything therapeutic. They were essentially selling overpriced, unverified mixtures under the guise of approved medical formulations.
That scar on your arm is a battlefield, and the chemistry of how it forms is completely different from any other vaccine you've ever received.
Most vaccines inject dead or weakened pathogens into your muscle. Your immune system sees the threat, builds antibodies, done. No lasting damage to the tissue. The BCG tuberculosis vaccine does something radically different. It injects live Mycobacterium bovis bacteria directly into the top layer of your skin, the dermis, and then lets them multiply.
For the first six weeks, those bacteria are actively replicating at the injection site. Your immune system detects them and sends macrophages to engulf the invaders. T-cells get recruited to the area. Then something happens that no other routine vaccine triggers: your body builds granulomas. Those are organized clusters of immune cells that physically wall off the bacteria like a biological quarantine zone. The immune system can't fully kill every bacterium, so it builds a containment structure around them instead.
That containment war destroys tissue. The granulomas break down the dermis. A blister forms, then an open ulcer that weeps for weeks. The entire process from injection to final scar takes about three months. What you're left with is the structural aftermath of your immune system demolishing a section of its own skin to contain a live bacterial colony.
The wild part: 4 billion doses administered since 1921. 100 million newborns receive it every year. And the size of your scar correlates with how strong your immune response was. Studies in West Africa found that infants who developed a visible scar had half the mortality rate of infants who didn't. Not just from TB. From everything. The scar tissue itself became a marker that your immune system trained correctly.
That circular mark is the one vaccine scar that actually means something went right. Your body fought a live infection in a controlled space, won, and left the evidence on your skin for life.
