The irony is deafening.

Days ago, Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar landed safely in Hargeisa and met Somaliland’s President at the Presidential Palace in the heart of the city—openly, securely, with dignity and respect. Historic.

Today, China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi canceled his planned visit to Somalia for security and safety reasons.

One capital hosts world leaders with ease.

The other cannot guarantee safety for a top diplomat.

Bashir Goth is the main architect of Israel’s recognition of Somaliland. Due to his lobbying efforts in DC, he has outmanoeuvred and single-handedly rendered the Somali embassy in DC irrelevant.

The government of Somalia in May 2025 was trying to pitch idea of joining the Abraham Accords to the Trump Administration.

Through its lobbying firm, the Somalian Ambassador in the US tried to get senior meetings to push this agenda.

It did not work.

The thinking at the time in Villa Somalia was that this was the best means to block the US and Israel from recognising Somaliland.

Mogadishu now criticises Somaliland for being open to idea of joining the Abraham Accords.

The 🇺🇸 is deeply concerned by reports that Federal Government of Somalia officials have destroyed a US-funded World Food Programme (WFP) warehouse and illegally seized 76 metric tons of donor-funded food aid for vulnerable Somalis. The Trump Administration has a zero-tolerance policy for waste, theft, and diversion of life-saving assistance.

Is @omarsuleiman prepared to apologize to the people of Somaliland?

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Israel has made its position explicitly clear. Palestinian relocation is not on the table. There is no agreement, no plan, and no discussion involving the relocation of Gazans to Somaliland. The Israeli foreign minister has publicly clarified this, stating unambiguously that Gazan emigration to Somaliland is not part of any arrangement.

If the argument was simply that Somaliland cannot engage with Israel 🇮🇱, that position immediately collapses under scrutiny. Egypt, Morocco, Jordan, Turkey, and the UAE, all Arab and Muslim-majority states, maintain diplomatic, economic, or strategic relationships with Israel. None of them are accused of facilitating population transfers or ethnic displacement.

What remains, then, is not a principled stance but manufactured outrage built on misinformation. Somaliland was falsely dragged into a narrative it had no part in, for political theater and ideological posturing.

At minimum, an acknowledgment of error is warranted. Silence in the face of clarified facts is not moral courage. It is intellectual dishonesty and borderline racism and Arab supremacy.

Astonishing !

The US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) now confirms Somalia's Ambassador at the UN in New York run a company implicated in Ohio fraud and blacklisted.

The news couldn't have come at a worse moment for Somalia.

In January 2026 Somalia took over the UNSC presidency - a rotational one-month stint during which the Ambassador of the designated state sets UNSC agenda.

Somalia was hoping to use the new role to fight Israel and Somaliland.
