@SFB20142016 I played it again after at least a 40 year break 2 weeks ago. Completely agree with you - great fun. 17th must be up there with the hardest par3s anywhere! Enjoy the rest of your trip.
@SFB20142016@AskernishGC Memories of last May. I loved it and the weather was quite a bit better - blue skies and no wind! Enjoy the rest of your trip.
@CairtersSMFC Agree! It is a pity that there are no videos of Ian Scanlon taking penalties for Robbo to use in training. Thumped in to the top left or right corner and I can’t recall him ever missing for us or Aberdeen.
@GuyCharnock I was at Troon yesterday and really the wind was no worse than a normal day at my home club Gullane. For me a scratch golfer based at a links course in the UK would have been round sub 85.
@stmirrenretro@ArsenalFC Peter Weir tore Kenny Sansom apart that day in front of the North Bank and he was probably the best defender in England at the time. Fantastic.
@holmsy83 McGinlay was a disgrace and I spent most of the game avoiding the concrete being thrown by the Rangers fans who were in the Celtic end for some reason. Scanlon yet again was superb in that match.
@Stephen4_2 @ally_begg Remember a friendly against Arsenal in 1981 when he rang rings around Kenny Sansom who I think is England’s most capped full back. The game ended 3-3. Amazing player but his replacement Ian Scanlon wasn’t too bad either.
@bawarmy Probably Ian Scanlon’s 45 yard effort in front of me in the North Bank 1983. We were 2-0 down early on and won 4-2. He was a terrific player for us.
@the_fried_egg@AndyTFE See you were playing a Persimmon Driver. @GullaneGolfClub No 3 just as good and ideal for hickories next time you are over. No coffee this time just Tennants and whisky!
Dogs do not look impressed at either the view over to Edinburgh Castle or the 4 hole lead disappearing fast!@GullaneGolfClub No 1 in superb condition playing hard, dry and fast as a links should be in the summer.
