the way so many ppl are completely convinced that some ppl are just "naturally skinny" but that there aren't also "naturally fat" ppl sometimes is so funny to me
During peak "body positivity" era y'all cried and screamed and stomped your feet about fat ppl being models for exercise clothing.. yk something fat people might wanna wear if they are at the gym. Any acceptance was framed as "promoting and glorifying" obesity. Its not the same
Here to remind you again that Juneteenth isn't the celebration of the slaves being freed. It's the celebration of enslaved Texans finding out they were free TWO years after slavery was abolished....so.....UNTIL EVERYONE IS FREE, NO ONE IS FREE.
I hate to be insensitive but I think the conversation falls short w skinny shaming bc it’s so surface, like nobody thinks ur stupid/lazy because ur skinny, ur not missing job opportunities for being skinny. You’re not being misdiagnosed at the doctors for being skinny. Tighten up
I’m sorry but this was never a thing lol… Even during the height of body positivity, thin was still the standard. It’s also why the majority of the faces of that movement lost weight and are no longer plus size
If you’re in your 40s and haven’t had shingles, these findings are both encouraging and frustrating.
For most of my career I’ve studied ways to preserve cognitive function as we age. Seeing evidence that shingles vaccination may reduce dementia risk is remarkable.
It’s also a reminder that prevention matters. Dementia is devastating for individuals, families, and health systems, and we already lack the caregiving capacity needed for the growing number of cases.
What makes these findings especially interesting is that shingles and other latent viruses can reactivate when the immune system is stressed. Researchers have also reported associations between SARS-CoV-2 infection and viral reactivation, as well as increased risks for a variety of neurological outcomes.
Shingrix isn’t a time machine. It can’t undo existing neurological injury or disease processes. But if a relatively simple intervention can meaningfully reduce dementia risk, that’s the kind of preventive medicine we should be paying attention to.
The bigger lesson may be that protecting brain health requires thinking seriously about infection, immunity, aging, and prevention long before symptoms appear.
The "A" in ACAB doesn't stand for "some." Or "most." 14+ cops were present when this dog was shot. Not one ran in to put pressure on the wound, rushed it to a vet, console or cry with the owner. They just stood around and did nothing. Literally nothing. "A" stands for "all."
“Why isn’t called god of war is you’re not playing as Kratos”
Firstly, Kratos isn’t the god of war.
Secondly, why is it called smash bros if you’re not smashing bros?
Has my life suffered because I don’t eat indoors at restaurants anymore?
Not really.
Has my life suffered from repeatedly explaining and defending why I don’t eat indoors at restaurants anymore?
UH HUH.
