Hello, this is “Ruler” Park Jae-hyuk.
I sincerely apologize once again for causing concern to many people.
I have come to realize once more how great the love and expectations from fans have been, and with a heart of reflection, I will think about and take action on what I can do to contribute to the development of esports.
I plan to donate to esports development funds so that amateur and youth players can grow their dreams in a better environment. I will also continue to volunteer where help is needed and strive to fulfill my social responsibilities.
I will share more specific plans once they are prepared.
I promise to show a more mature side of myself going forward, and I bow my head once again in apology.
Sincerely,
Park Jae-hyuk
lotta people disappointed that LCK didn’t punish 📏
IRS didn’t initiate criminal action against him, Military Manpower Administration didn’t revoke his exemption, now LCK through a third-party investigation committee ruled that he didn’t violate the rules. What more do they want
[OFFICIAL] LCK 🇰🇷 finds no grounds to sanction Gen.G Ruler 🇰🇷 following its investigation
No tax-related criminal violation was confirmed and no LCK rule breach was found. The case was not deemed immoral or damaging to the league.
All tax-related procedures were completed, and the time limit to apply penalties had expired, with the decision reached unanimously by the committee
#Ruler update for LCK fans
TLDR: No punishment
- Bascially the investigation found no evidence of criminal tax evasion, prosecution, or criminal charges.
- Ruler followed advice from tax professionals, underwent the necessary administrative corrections, and has fully paid the required taxes.
- They couldn't flag him for "immoral behavior" or "damaging dignity"
Final stance of the LCK from the article
- "It is confirmed that all related administrative dispositions and their fulfillment by the tax authorities have been completed through tax-related procedures."
- "No separate severe illegal acts (such as tax evasion due to evidence manipulation, etc.) have been confirmed at this time."
- "No facts have been confirmed that led to criminal liability."
Q. Lastly, if there’s anything you want to say to Gen.G fans and LCK viewers who have been watching this issue unfold, please go ahead.
#Ruler: My biggest mistake was taking this issue too lightly in the beginning. I apologize for my ignorance, and I also know very well that saying I only focused on playing games and didn’t pay attention to these kinds of issues cannot be an excuse.
Up until now, I failed to come forward and apologize to Gen.G fans, league viewers, and everyone involved, and instead I avoided it, and for that I’m sorry. No matter what kind of disciplinary action comes out, I will humbly accept it. To everyone who must have felt a great deal of exhaustion because of me, I want to sincerely say once again that I am truly sorry.
#GenG#Ruler breaks his silence
Q. After the issue was reported at the end of March and you posted an apology on social media on April 1, there was no separate public statement from you for about two weeks. First, I’d like to ask why you decided to give an interview today.
Ruler: I’m truly ashamed, but I’ll speak honestly. My agency and my parents told me it was already over… and although I was given an explanation about tax avoidance, I honestly didn’t really understand what it meant.
Since they said it was all over, I thought maybe that meant it was okay, and I carelessly and rashly told myself I should just focus on the tournament. I was truly ignorant.
But the more I learned, the more I came to understand that even if it was considered “over,” what I did was still wrong. I had been seeing all of people’s reactions, so I wanted to speak again, but honestly, public opinion scared me so much that I pretended to be fine, avoided it, and hid.
Then I felt like I couldn’t keep hiding any longer, so I came out. I am truly sorry..
[OFFICIAL] The Military Manpower Administration denies any link between Ruler 🇰🇷 and recent controversy over pro players being barred from competing during social service
"This matter is unrelated to Park Jae-hyuk [Ruler]. For professionals such as athletes, entertainers, doctors, and lawyers, holding secondary employment is restricted in principle."
"There has been no policy change, and no directive has been issued from headquarters to regional offices."

Ruler 🇰🇷 adresses the tax evasion situation:
Hello, this is Ruler.
I am sorry for causing concern to fans because of the recent reports related to taxes. I wanted to address this matter personally.
The first thing I want to say is that I did not intentionally hide or conceal any income. However, two issues arose in the course of managing my assets, and I would like to explain them directly.
Starting in 2018, my father quit his job and took on a full-time role supporting me and handling manager-type responsibilities.
This was before the certified agent system was introduced, and from my trainee days onward, he was effectively in charge of agent-like duties such as coordinating schedules outside of matches, handling team contracts, and matters related to university admissions.
We applied the labor costs for those activities as necessary business expenses, but the National Tax Service did not recognize those as deductible expenses. My father is also taking this situation very seriously. I respect the tax authority’s judgment.
As for the stock nominee trust issue, it was not done for the purpose of gifting assets or evading taxes. Because I lacked experience in asset management, I had asked my father to manage them for me, but that too was my mistake.
The related gift tax has been paid in full, and all of those shares have now been transferred back into my own name. I respect the tax authority’s judgment.
Some reports are mentioning my case alongside other examples, but I never attempted to split income or hide assets. This matter arose solely from carelessness in the process of managing personal assets for which all income tax had already been fully paid.
That said, I will take full responsibility for this matter. I will cooperate sincerely with the league’s review regarding any LCK-related issues. Going forward, I will manage all aspects of my assets in a more transparent and thorough manner.
I am sorry.
