Gràcies a la Confraria de pescadors de Tarragona per haver-me convidat al primer congrés de peix blau i arts sostenibles de la #costadaurada, on he parlat sobre la recerca que faig a @HMar_research i @CIBER_ISCIII en #peixblau i salut cerebral. He après moltíssim!
Our latest paper, in @Eye_Journal! In patients with type 1 diabetes, blood omega-3 biomarkers (which reflect their dietary intake), tied to a lower prevalence of diabetic retinopathy, and to a preserved retinal vessel density and perfusion density. Link: https://t.co/wamM89jXOE
Interested in fatty acids and aging? Our latest work is now published in Current Opinion in Clinical Nutrition & Metabolic Care. We reviewed the latest preclinical and clinical evidence on fatty acids (mostly omega-3) and telomere length. Please find it at https://t.co/rtB3iepl9A
Our latest results on red blood cell omega-3 fatty acids in brain health are available in @alzdemjour_DADM. Take a look FOR FREE at: ttps://doi.org/10.1002/dad2.12596 🧵👇
6/ Therefore, the two fatty acids have complementary effects. In other words, you can get a stronger, more resistant brain by including sources of ALA (for instance walnuts) and DHA (fatty fish, fish oils) in your regular diet.
Kudos to @Dmozaffarian and colleagues, very nice JACC State-of-the-Art Review in @JACCJournals - "Food Is Medicine” Strategies for Nutrition Security and Cardiometabolic Health Equity. It is worth having a look at it! https://t.co/pHcNynt9cp
➡️ A menjar 🍣🐟 i nous o prendre 💊

Our results add novel mechanistic insight on the vascular benefits of sustained walnut consumption in older individuals, as uncovered by the WAHA trial. 5/5
The last paper on the @CaWalnuts WAHA trial was just published in the @jnutritionorg - A walnut-enriched diet for 2 years changes the serum oxylipin profile in healthy older persons - https://t.co/Qirbpg4uyo 👇🧵 1/5
Changes included the raise of most of the oxylipins derived from #alpha-linolenic acid (the main vegetable #omega-3, here supplied by walnuts), but also a decrease in several oxylipins derived from #arachidonic acid that have been associated with #age-related diseases. 4/5
