Same, we just closed our ClickUp account.
Everything runs in Slack with agents monitoring channels, and humans communicating updates.
Funny thing is clients feel the same, nobody wants to look at a task board, they just tell us what they need and get updates in Slack the next day.
On top of that, we're building an internal tool that's basically clockify, clickUp, agency second brain, notion and our own tech stack connected.
Figma is plugged in through MCP too, so we can see recent updates and run status checks, QA against the brief, etc. on any project before opening a file.
I'm sure ClickUp could do most of this, but for a 15 person team with their AI add-ons that's around $9.4k a year, and this will be almost free to run.
Age of CSaaS (custom software as a service) is here!
Client ghosting after a discovery call is part of freelancing.
The call goes well.
They seem interested.
You discuss the project.
Thenโฆ silence.
Sometimes the budget isn't right. Sometimes they're comparing options. Sometimes they simply change their mind.
Not every good call becomes a client.
Freelancers, has this happened to you? Any tips to reduce ghosting?
And if you've ever ghosted a designer as a client, what made you change your mind? ๐
@Oriku175 lately, clients dm me and ghost right after I ask for more details lol. the classic โcan you tell me a bit more about your project?โ seems to scare them away
@simoomdesign lost a $2k+ deal this week because of a proposal like this.
realized i need to spend more time improving my proposals, not just my design skills.
Nobody actually wants a website.
They want booked calls, inbound leads, and revenue.
The moment your proposal focuses on deliverables like :
โข A 5-page responsive site.
โข Custom animations.
โข Clean layouts and modern typography.
...you are actively turning yourself into a commodity competing on price.
A dentist never wakes up thinking:
"Man, I really need better typography on my site."
They wake up thinking:
"Why did 300 people visit our page this week and nobody booked an appointment?"
When you pitch, shift the entire frame:
Identify the single action the client actually needs visitors to take.
Position your entire offer around fixing the bottleneck stopping that action.
Present your design by showing how each section guides a visitor to take that step.
Clients don't pay premium rates for Figma files, page counts, or code.
They pay for the business result the website produces.
Sell the outcome, not the asset.
