Lessons from Brazil & Serbia Elections
Brazil has 130 million registered voters. They went to elect their President yesterday & the results were out immediately polls closed! No other country in the world does what Brazil does. President Lula, 80, was re-elected for record 4th time. His campaign recommitment is to end Corruption, Impunity & Militias (goons). And Lula kept his previous election promises.
In Serbia, university students formed only two months ago, its political party called Studentska lista (student List). The students in yesterday’s elections, defeated the party of strongman Vucic that was formed 18 years ago! There are indications the students will choose their university professor, Srdanovic to be the new leader of Serbia.
Therefore, winning elections isn’t about the age of the Party or of the Party’s Presidential candidate. It is, who resonates with the voters!
IG Douglas Kanja continues to demonstrate purposeful leadership through his engagements with international partners. From Israel to Italy, these engagements highlight the importance of strengthening security cooperation, enhancing police capacity and keeping Kenya safe. Commendable work by the IG, whose efforts speak for themselves.
Our museums are living spaces where our country’s history, cultural heritage and artistic creativity come together, offering opportunities to discover our past, appreciate our identity and celebrate the talent shaping our future.
This October, the National Museums of Kenya is hosting exciting exhibitions, including Gavin Kendo’s Not All Who Wander Are Lost at the Nairobi National Museum, UNGA: The Phygital Exhibition at the Nairobi Gallery, which brings together art and technology, and Wahenga wa Sanaa, celebrating two centuries of artistic expression and the legacy of our cultural pioneers.
Through the State Department for Culture, the Arts and Heritage, we are keen to see our museums attract more visitors, provide greater opportunities for artists and inspire young people to engage with our history and creativity. I encourage families, students and art enthusiasts to explore these exhibitions and experience the richness of our cultural heritage firsthand.
Baba would have been in Eldoret today, with his Black Kaunda suit and his Panama hat, and a brief speech full of historical events.
Hate the government. Love your country.
Barcelona last won the Champions League in 2015, 11 years ago. Since then, they’ve won six La Liga titles, while Real Madrid have lifted the Champions League trophy five times.
So, how has Barcelona managed to dominate domestically but struggle to replicate that success in Europe?

That is why I was born from such a family. The bravery to think for your own, listen to everyone and decide for yourself! The decision time not yet but we are open to every thought.
Miguna Miguna is most ungrateful in his unjustified and unwarranted criticism of Edwin Sifuna. Sifuna was the first responder when Miguna was seized that Friday morning.
Sifuna, myself and many other volunteer Advocates risked our lives fighting for his liberty from March 2018 until 20th October, 2022 when he received his passport and went straight to State House to celebrate with the people who had oppressed him.
For the record, Sifuna went as far as raising funds from well wishers to support our fight for Miguna. Miguna is a monumental disgrace and shame to humanity as well as the legal profession.
THIKA SUPERHIGHWAY was Raila Odinga's pet project.
In 2003, as Roads Minister, he and Engineer Joshua Toro, then MP for Kandara and Assistant Minister for Roads, crafted a master plan.
The THIKA Highway was the pilot project, followed by Rironi - Mau Summit - Londiani - Fort Tenan - Muhoroni, and Ngata - Salgaa - Mau-Summit - Londiani - Kericho - Kisumu - Busia.
But the constant conflicts between LDP and NAK stalled these Mega Projects.
The Orange-Banana conflict jeopardised every dream built in 2002 because people around Kibaki, like Karua, didn't like LDP near the government's policy-making meetings.
Then came 2008, and the Coalition Government was born after a horrible 2007 election.
Kipkalya Kones, as Roads Minister, restarted the stalled mega road projects. Then he died in June 2008 in a plane crash.
Then Franklin Bett was appointed Roads Minister. He restarted and supervised the Thika Highway groundbreaking ceremony, alongside Jimmy Wanjigi, who designed its financing instruments.
Baba carried all the insults when the project started,
"Economic saboteur"
"He is destroying our businesses"
"He wants EABL to collapse so that his molasses plant can start producing beer"
"This ODM part of the Government is heartless."
Kibaki was almost folding, but Jimmy Wanjigi told him off.
Baba and Bett remained firm, and the Highway was commissioned in November 2012 at Museum Hill. Kibaki was present alongside Johnny-come-lately Kalonzo Musyoka.
Baba carried the insults, the media rewrote the truth, and we carried the glory.
I know our history well because I have refused to let politicians and the media rewrite our historical journey.
The media hides the truth, broadcasts lies, to keep the masses misinformed and enraged.
DANGOTE'S INVESTMENT IN LAMU is as a result of four years of improved security in Lamu.
For 4 years, intelligence led operations in the larger Lamu county secured the county and the country.
Tonight, we thank our counter terrorism officers and fighting units at the border for making the country safe.
Improved security means more investment.
Lamu has been riddled by insecurity for years on end from Al Shabaab insurgents. Having the refinery will come with increased military and police presence in the region. An overall plus in my books.
Presided over by His Excellency President @WilliamsRuto and businessman Aliko Dangote, I joined leaders from across Africa and Kenya for the groundbreaking ceremony of the Dangote East Africa Petroleum Refinery, a mega project worth KSh2.2 trillion that will transform Kenya’s energy and industrial landscape while strengthening the region’s economic potential.
