So some serious reactivation is required. Lots of face to face contact needed with some extra help for longer term workless. DWP trying hard on this but stuck with inadequate resource for the scale of the task at the frontline. Your views?
@billwells_1 Interested in your thoughts on rise in level and rate of u/e. Mostly about flows. So inactivity outflows to u/e are rising because i/a people loooking for work in greater numbers. ( Same people but rebadged) Also flows out of emp and u/e falling(!) Am I wrong?
So if you are in empl you are well positioned to get another job if you want. But if you are in u/e esp if recently i/a you are stuck - in some local labour mkts but not all
So sad to hear of the passing of the wonderful Sarah Anderson. A great non-exec in the world of employability support in both Jobcentreplus and the Employment Service. We could do with more of her like. @NeilCouling https://t.co/Mf4c7IufYI
I will very soon be leaving this platform. Sadly but recent developments are intolerable. I will keep a social media footprint where the skies are blue, the inns are linked, and soon the subs are stacked. Find me by name or @salientwork.

Vote YES for a parish council for central St Albans! 🗳️
Ballot papers are out for 28,000 homes. Without a local council, decisions on parks, markets, & festivals move elsewhere. Keep a local voice! Return your ballot now! #stalbans#voiceforstalbans#localdemocracy#parishcouncil
Which also means that there are more people than you think just down the road who really care about UC. I do feel the commentariat somehow just don’t get this but are assuming it’s an arcane business for the deeply poverty-stricken. Not so.
Universal Credit stats just out. Really useful straightforward guide to categories, payment, and work requirements. But above all a reminder that UC is *huge* as a proportion of the working age population. And it always will be. https://t.co/rCBR24MYWn
And that means it will sit at the heart of employability and skills actions for years to come whether we like it or not. Huge in policy and delivery. And of course therefore highly political.
Chair of Trustees, Groundwork East | Reach Volunteering. Great role in a great charity with an enthusiastic Board. Recommended and worth your time! https://t.co/H8w7Im050v
After over four years I am standing down as Chair of Groundwork East: a fantastic environmental & community engagement charity. If that interests you here’s the job ad

For employment support and welfare reform where partnership is imperative this is seriously flawed guidance. Major benefit changes and new employment programmes can only be sensibly designed, launched and delivered with senior officials able to speak out and answer questions
Frankly outrageous from the govt. This new, and I think unprecedented, ban on civil servants speaking in public will damage public debate, politics, policy making and the civil service itself.
What are they thinking?
