In the 70s and 80s, Nepal lost huge amounts of their forests to human activities like livestock production.
In the 90s the government gave control of forest management to villages.
Since then forest cover has doubled.

Since upzoning:
-Dwelling consents per capita have doubled.
-Multi-unit dwellings have grown from 47% to 77% of new supply.
Sophisticated estimates calculate that upzoning increased the stock of housing by 5%.

But, upzoning may make supply more elastic. Since 2017 prices in Auckland, relative to the rest of the country, have: a) been less sensitive to changes in interest rates and b) grown less. In the longer run, house prices may grow slower than incomes, improving affordability.

An investigation by CBC found the #RCMP spent ~$50 million since 2017 policing logging/pipeline standoffs on the Indigenous lands colonized by BC. Some say the money could have gone towards funding #Indigenous land stewardship & supporting communities instead of policing them.
