@EddieComeaux There should be a minimized police presence in both K-12 and higher education settings. SRO's are the factor that push the school-to-prison pipeline forward and they create an environment of fear at colleges and universities. #racialjustice
@luciamanzo1001@MisssNallely @rabea_qamar I definitely agree that Black-student athletes are not set up for success in terms of their academics. They are simply seen as tools for profit and nothing beyond that
@LievanosYuliana@MisssNallely @rabea_qamar I have definitely witnessed this in person. As an education major, I feel as though many student-athletes are funneled into my classes because they believe it will be "easy," which I believe is disrespectful and undermines the hard work I put into my classes.
@amberchaconn @MisssNallely @rabea_qamar I definitely agree with you. The NCAA fosters an environment that makes student-athletes fear repercussions if they report their concussions, which leaves concussions untreated.
@veeveeand @MisssNallely @rabea_qamar College athletics has had issues with revenue and funding long before Title IX. Demonizing gender equality in sports is just one of the many ways the patriarchy is prevalent in higher education.
@ANDREARAYAS7 @rabea_qamar @MisssNallely This article was a really interesting read. I am excited to learn more about the intersection of race and ICA as we move forward with the course!
@naariah_johnson @rabea_qamar @MisssNallely The connection of this to Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs was something I never considered. I find it so difficult to balance my work/school/personal life myself, so I cannot even imagine how student-athletes manage.
@singletary150 I heard that the NBA was suspended for the rest of the season, but I had not considered the impact it would have on college athletes as well. Thank you for sharing!
