@lloydpage2 what a great conference. Good to meet Lloyd and others . Loved the theatre group. Powerful stuff delivered in a fun way.

[Sally Hyde @salsafeguard]

@RoseHarwood1 @EKHUFTChat #ekhchat the challenge is often who's best interest is it to act or not

[Sally Hyde @salsafeguard]

@TonyButcher @EKHUFTChat @RoseHarwood1 #ekhchat A very valid point! We should never under estimate the power the professional can hold

[Sally Hyde @salsafeguard]

@EKHUFTChat @RoseHarwood1 #ekhchat yes . It is also about professionals supporting the person to maximise their own decision making powers.

[Sally Hyde @salsafeguard]

@EKHUFTChat @TonyButcher @dmarsden49 #ekhchat very much so. Adults with capacity have the right to choose to stay in a high risk situation

[Sally Hyde @salsafeguard]

@dmarsden49 @EKHUFTChat #ekhchat we assume capacity unless some thing makes us doubt it. Lots of things can trigger a doubt.

[Sally Hyde @salsafeguard]

@EKHUFTChat #ekhchat yes I think we have a duty of care to be considering a person's capacity from the moment they arrive with us.

[Sally Hyde @salsafeguard]

@EKHUFTChat @dmarsden49 #ekhchat if we use the mental capacity act definitions then I would say any one that fails the two stage test....

[Sally Hyde @salsafeguard]

@dmarsden49 @EKHUFTChat #ekhchat pain, impaired mental capacity, emotional distress .... can make us vulnerable.

[Sally Hyde @salsafeguard]

@EKHUFTChat #ekhchat Potentially any adult passing through an acute hospital can be at risk and require safeguarding
