My only concern is that the new mechanics don't forget our human side—our true creative values—and that we can do great things together, one more year, without alienating ourselves. Merry Xmas & Happy New Year—and 𝘮𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘤𝘺𝘣𝘦𝘳𝘯𝘦𝘵𝘪𝘤𝘴 𝘣𝘦 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘺𝘰𝘶!
In a famous interview, Heidegger once said:
𝗦𝗣𝗜𝗘𝗚𝗘𝗟: And what now takes the place of philosophy
𝗛𝗘𝗜𝗗𝗘𝗚𝗚𝗘𝗥: Cybernetics (!!!)
Yep, 𝘤𝘺𝘣𝘦𝘳𝘯𝘦𝘵𝘪𝘤𝘴, of which AI is nothing but a premature/partial culmination.
Getting ready for Xmas. But before the well-deserved rest, I wanted to take a moment to reflect and thank the industry as a whole. For nothing too concrete I would say, just for "being-there"—or 𝘥𝘢𝘴𝘦𝘪𝘯—I guess.

@fredine@debasishg Java itself stably absorbs the proven parts of Scala. So it's undeniable that Scala is helping to push the state of the art and drive the direction of other languages, despite its "existential crisis". Maybe Scala is fine being "just" that (innovation has a price)... 🤷♂️
@fredine@debasishg I wouldn't say directional but (of) identity directly. More and more I see Scala as a (very worth) research project which will eventually and hopefully give birth to a next-gen language, but as of today it's difficult for me to justify its (industry) value prop...
@BartoszMilewski I'm looking into some schema evolution issues, see, e.g., https://t.co/uc9rmgWm2A, I wonder if there is a well-studied relationship between type variance and the ideas in that post (closed/open models for producers/consumers reminds me of co/contra-variance) 🤔

@BartoszMilewski I think this is covered in the third sketch (chapter) of his book "An Invitation to Applied Category Theory". The title of this chapter is "Databases: Categories, Functors, and Universal Constructions" and one of the sections is about "Adjunctions and Data Migrations"...
@BartoszMilewski What are the main differences between "Category Theory for Programmers" and "The DAO of FP"? Which one would you recommend to start with?
