Key Update: The men seen in the late-night CCTV footage illegally cutting down trees planted by Nashik Municipal Corporation on the Gangapur Road divider as part of the city’s plantation and beautification efforts, have been arrested.

Following the video shared with us by citizens, our Gangapur Police Station team identified and arrested the key accused and his five associates. The reason for cutting the trees, as revealed during investigations was even more shocking: The accused, who owned a hoarding agency, had instructed his staff to cut the trees because they were obstructing the visibility of his advertising hoardings..! All 6 booked under stringent provisions of the following laws:

🔴 भारतीय न्याय संहिता कलम ३०५(ई), ३२४(३), ६१(२) आणि ३(५);
🔴 महाराष्ट्र (नागरी क्षेत्र) झाडांचे संरक्षण व जतन अधिनियम, १९७५ (२०२१ मध्ये सुधारित) कलम २१(१);
🔴 पर्यावरण (संरक्षण) अधिनियम कलम १५; आणि
🔴 सार्वजनिक मालमत्ता नुकसान प्रतिबंध अधिनियम, १९८४ कलम ३.

नाशिकची हिरवाई ही केवळ शहराचे सौंदर्य नाही; ती आपली सार्वजनिक संपत्ती आणि शहराचा श्वास आहे. तिच्यावर कुऱ्हाड चालवणाऱ्यांवर कायद्यातील उपलब्ध कठोर तरतुदींनुसार कारवाई करण्यास नाशिक शहर पोलीस मागेपुढे पाहणार नाहीत.
