4/4 Thanks to my new colleagues David Faurdal and Tue Sparholt Jørgensen for helping me resolve the tricky terminal inverted repeats in Streptomyces sp. NL15-2K
3/4 Given the fragmented nature of the BGCs containing these diels-alderases we resequenced both strains. We hope these talented strains are useful for #genomemining. Especially as this is only the 4th complete genome from the incredibly gifted and underexplored Kutzneria genus.
2/4 We identified rare diels alderase enzymes, capable of stereoselective C-C cycloadditions, from the scaffold assemblies of these strains. We also successfully characterised in vitro activity of the 'Cyclase15' from NL15-2K here: https://t.co/Vfmya723rF
While I will keep this account I am now also on blue sky as many scientists are moving over and want to keep up to date on the most recent discoveries. Can find me as pieterdorrestein
I knew there were a lot of fake accounts on this platform, but they are usually obvious. I had no idea how intricate and complex the ruse could be.

All too often researchers use non-standard methods and so MIC data cannot be reproduced. To reduce that error read this: ‘Antibiotic susceptibility testing using minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) assays’ @bondSSbond https://t.co/JIHDm4tCFi

Invasive fungal infections kill 3.8 millions of deaths annually. Current antifungal medicines are limited by toxicity, drug-drug interactions and resistance. We report alligamycin as a novel antifungal lead against resistant Aspergillus and Talaromyces. https://t.co/HalnLfivvQ
Humans tend to underestimate the pace of innovation and overestimate the inertia of incumbent technologies.
Clean energy technologies have scaled much more rapidly than predicted by modellers.
We are pleased to announce our upcoming mzmine webinar series in collaboration with VMOL. This series will focus on various aspects of mass spectrometry data processing, showcasing the capabilities of mzmine.

What kind of childhood makes a top scientist? Is it enough to have all the right traits (brilliance, grit, etc) or do you need the right family too?
