if you believe that worldcup football watchers’ opinions are less valid or even invalid compared to ones who watch football allyear round you piss me off yes you might know more but what i see think and notice is valid and real and you shouldn’t throw a tantrum about it
Many people don’t know this, but the crossed-arms “X” signal is FIFA’s universal gesture for reporting racist abuse.
When a player, coach, or team official makes that signal, they’re informing the referee that racist abuse has occurred. It is meant to trigger FIFA’s three-step anti-racism protocol: first stop the match, then suspend it if the abuse continues, and ultimately abandon the match if it doesn’t stop.
Today, Egypt manager Hossam Hassan made the “X” gesture from the touchline. Instead of initiating the protocol, the referee booked Hassan with a yellow card and allowed play to continue.
My gosh.
Yesterday, Egypt Coach Hossam Hassan asked FIFA to use its "soft power" to help Palestinians.
Today, just as the Egypt-Argentina match began, Israel killed Mohammed al-Wahidi, of the Egyptian Relief Committee in Gaza — which also organized Gaza screenings of the matches.
- penalty given unfairly
- Egypt goal disallowed after a soft foul
- Salah penalty not given resulting in a goal for Argentina
- blatant aggression against Egypt’s players not even registered by the ref
and still Argentina barely squeezed a win
