As a special tribute to our fallen heroes, today we kicked off the National Peace Officers’ Memorial Run at South Simcoe Police South Division in Bradford West Gwillimbury.

The National Peace Officers’ Memorial Run serves to pay tribute to those officers who have valiantly given their lives in service to their communities and country. Participants run 460 kms from Toronto to Ottawa, arriving for the annual Canadian Police and Peace Officers' Memorial Service, which will take place on Sunday, September 28, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. on Parliament Hill in Ottawa.  

This local event provides an opportunity for South Simcoe Police members, along with their families and friends, to honour South Simcoe Police officers who lost their lives in the line of duty, Police Constable Alan Kuzmich, Police Constable Devon Northrup, Police Constable Morgan Russell. Participants will run or walk through the community of Bradford, pausing for moments of silence at Constable Devon Northrup Memorial Park and Alan Kuzmich Memorial Park – parksdedicated to their memory and sacrifice.

Constable Devon Northrup was a former South Simcoe Police Team Captain for the National Peace Officers’ Memorial Run and held this event close to his heart. Today, his fellow team members proudly carry on the tradition in his honour.

Yesterday, South Simcoe Police Service riders completed a 209-kilometre leg from Aylmer to Toronto, joining policing partners from across the province for the National Peace Officers’ Memorial Run and Ride to Remember. Despite rain and strong headwinds, our riders pushed through with determination and purpose, honouring fallen officers in every community they travel through.

With every kilometre, they carry a powerful message of remembrance, respect, and honour for those who have made the ultimate sacrifice protecting and serving our communities.

They will continue their journey today through to Saturday, covering a total of 700 kilometres as they make their way to Parliament Hill in Ottawa, arriving in time for the Canadian Police And Peace Officers' Memorial Service, taking place on Sunday, September 28, 2025.

The South Simcoe Police Community Response Unit has once again delivered a successful Senior Citizen Police Academy program in @townofinnisfil and @TownofBWG.

Throughout the months of July and August, more than 80 participants attended sessions at Sandycove Acres and the Bradford Seniors Association - Danube Seniors Leisure Centre. Each week, participants engaged with members of South Simcoe Police specialized units and community partners such as Emergency Management Services, Fire, By-law, Crime Stoppers, 211, and Victim Services, gaining valuable knowledge into emergency preparedness, public safety resources, and community safety.

The always-popular Canine Unit and Drone presentations were the most favoured and popular sessions of the program - and with such engaging demonstrations, who could blame them?

Participant feedback was extremely positive, with attendees thanking the presenters and expressing strong interest in returning next year.

MEET ALICE! SHE'S 7. A FIGHTER. A SURVIVOR.

Alice is this year’s child ambassador for the Be A Hero Head Shave in support of pediatric oncology at Southlake Regional Health Centre. She is the daughter of Jacquie, a serving member with South Simcoe Police.

Alice is a brave cancer survivor of Hodgkin’s lymphoma. Thanks to the incredible team at @southlakehlth's POGO Clinic, she received world-class, life-saving cancer treatment without leaving her community.

On Saturday, September 20, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, South Simcoe Police Chief John Van Dyke and members of @YRP will be shaving their heads for the Be A Hero Head Shave at @uppercanadamall in support of brave children like Alice, and to raise vital funds for pediatric oncology at Southlake Regional Health Centre.

South Simcoe Police are seeking assistance from the public in identifying any of the persons of interest in the attached photos. Police are investigating a number of thefts that occurred at LCBO stores in Bradford West Gwillimbury and Innisfil. Police obtained video footage from the retailers and are seeking information from the public to help identify the individuals in connection to the various thefts.

A Christmas Miracle: South Simcoe Police Auxiliary Constable Saves A Child’s Life During Local Parade

It was a Sunday afternoon, the streets in Innisfil were alive with festive cheer and anticipation as families with their children lined the sidewalks along Innisfil Beach Road eagerly awaiting Santa's arrival for the annual Santa Claus Parade. In the midst of all the excitement and celebrations, one moment stood out – a moment when quick thinking and bravery turned a potential tragedy into a heartwarming story of courage and heroism.

On November 24, 2024, at 1:00 p.m., Auxiliary Constable Balpreet Badial was on duty during the parade when several members of the public ran to her and said, “Officer, we need help!” Auxiliary Constable Badial was brought to a 4-year-old boy who was choking. She quickly took action when she noticed that the child’s airway was blocked, and he was not breathing. Without hesitation, Auxiliary Constable Badial quickly began life-saving efforts on the boy and was able to successfully dislodge the blockage, found to be a piece of candy. Once the ambulance arrived, the child was assessed for medical evaluation and found to be in good health.

Auxiliary Constable Balpreet Badial is one of our newest members to join the South Simcoe Police Auxiliary Unit. This had only been Auxiliary Constable Badial’s second event since she completed her training and received her badge on November 14, 2024.

I take great pride in serving the Innisfil and Bradford West Gwillimbury communities as a volunteer Auxiliary Constable for the South Simcoe Police Service. This family looked to me for help and as someone who could save their loved one. In these situations, every single second counts. South Simcoe Police places great emphasis on training and delves deeply into every aspect to ensure officers are well prepared for various situations. South Simcoe Police Auxiliary receive similar training as front-line officers. Police Constable Brent MacDonald, Use of Force Instructor and Training Officer, values thorough training and conducts each and every session with precision to ensure our officers are equipped with the skills they need to serve and protect our communities. This incident serves as an important reminder to the public that basic First Aid and CPR training can help save a life. Police Constable MacDonald encourages our community members and the public to complete a basic First Aid/CPR training course and make it a life saving priority for you and your family.

Auxiliary members are an integral part of the South Simcoe Police Service. They are volunteers who selflessly dedicate their time to contribute to the well-being of our communities. They are guided by our motto, Protect with Courage, Serve with Compassion in every action taken and committed to making a difference.
