In the last few years we've seen:
- The plot to kidnap Gretchen Whitmer
- The Storming of the Capitol and pipe bombs left at the RNC and DNC
- The break-in to kidnap Nancy Pelosi and the brutal on Paul Pelosi
- Multiple assassination attempts against Trump
- The assassination of Minnesota House Speaker Melissa Hortman and her husband and the shooting of on State Senator John Hoffman and his wife
- Luigi Mangione's assassination of Brian Thompson
- The assassination of Charlie Kirk
Political violence is contagious. It is spreading. It is not confined to one side or belief system. It should terrify us all.
The foundation of a free society is the ability to participate in it without fear of violence. Political violence is always an attack against us all. You have to be so blind not to see that.
It's been and difficult week this week. But I just read a letter from a reader that has me going into the weekend full of gratitude and focus on our mission at @TangleNews
"Dear Isaac and the Tangle Team,
I just listened to your latest podcast on the assassination of Charlie Kirk. Isaac’s reflection, his despair and honest vulnerability, moved me deeply. I’ve been meaning to write for a while, but today, I felt compelled to finally reach out and say thank you.
Like many of your listeners, I’m a left-leaning citizen who found Tangle via This American Life. For years, I argued with right-leaning friends without ever truly understanding where they were coming from. Social media only amplified that disconnect; encouraging me to disengage from people I disagreed with, and framing anyone who held right-leaning or even moderate views as evil.
At some point, I realized all of my views were perfectly aligned with the Democratic Party. Every single one.
That gave me pause. The odds that I’d arrived at all those conclusions independently? Slim to none. When Trump won a second term, the noise online became deafening. Every post seemed to signal the end of democracy, and my anxiety spiked. I’ve always valued staying informed, but I knew I had to change how I consumed the news if I wanted to stay sane. That’s when I found Tangle.
At first, I struggled through the discomfort of “What the Right is Saying” and even some of Isaac’s takes. But I would take a breath and remind myself that this is what I signed up for: to be challenged. Over time, that discomfort gave way to something far more valuable: understanding.
Tangle has helped me hear opposing views not as caricatures, but as real, reasoned perspectives. I now engage with difficult ideas without the anger I used to feel. My relationships with friends and colleagues who think differently have improved, because I can actually see where they’re coming from, even when I still disagree. When I heard about Charlie Kirk’s death, I was incredibly shocked and saddened. I’ve found many of his views repugnant, but he was a human being participating in our shared political conversation.
Without Tangle, I fear I might have joined those who are celebrating his death. Instead, I wept listening to Isaac’s take, and I feel only grief and concern about the reactions I’m seeing online.I don’t know if I have the words to fully express the impact you’ve all had on me. Tangle has challenged, changed, and grounded me. I share it with anyone who will listen, and I’m a proud paid subscriber.Thank you, truly, for everything you do. Please take care of yourselves in these tense and troubling times. You’re making a real difference."
Recently I was called by someone pretending to be Coinbase support, trying to steal bitcoin.
I decided to turn the tables on him and ask him about being a scammer.
Things got wild - he completely changed his personality & told me everything.
Presenting: To Catch a Scammer 🕵️♂️
Big question among many big questions today is what, if any, role the DOJ investigations played in this? Could it be possible that the feds sniffed around the PGA Tour, didn’t like what they saw, and this was the path of least resistance? Would explain a total 180 in position.

The next time you find yourself highly reactive or triggered by someone or something, ask yourself this question: “What aspects of my false self are being threatened, and what unhealthy attachments in my false self might God be seeking to dismantle?”
On Sunday, Nov. 11, 2022 pastor Bajnu Salam was dragged out of his service in Kosalnar village in Chhattisgarh, India and beaten for preaching the gospel.
He and other believers were hospitalized for treatment.
Pray for the persecuted church.

Y’all ever seen that movie called A Beautiful Mind? Well. Here is a sample of Tim Keller’s sermon notes. Next level genius undergirded by faith and humility is what turns a skilled orator into a world class preacher.
