The importance of the olive in the history of humanity is included in all the holy books, creation and foundation myths. The leaves of the olive tree are symbols of victory, wisdom, and peace. The dove returning to Noah's ark with an olive branch was considered a sign that the great flood was over.

According to mythology, Athena, patron goddess of the City of Athens, defeated Poseidon in the competition because she grew an olive tree and gained the right to become the goddess of the City of Athens.

Homer describes olive oil as "liquid gold". Solon makes the first laws for the protection of the olive tree. It is the first tree to be protected by law. Hippocrates recommends olive oil as healing.

The olive tree is a symbol of holiness, abundance, justice, health, pride, victory, prosperity, wisdom, reason, rebirth. And they live with us for thousands of years unless greedy people cut them down.
