BC leads all 10 provinces in GDP per capita growth since 2017, and Vancouver hosting #FIFAWorldCup2026 will build on that momentum:
1M+ new visitors, $1 Billion in revenue, and 18,000+ jobs by 2031.
These are real economic wins for B.C. families and businesses.⚽️🍁

Our housing action plan is helping British Columbians — rents are down almost 13% across BC.
British Columbians are saving thousands of dollars every year, and there is more to do — so we’re continuing to build homes and bring down rents.
We have major projects across B.C. in clean energy, critical minerals, and construction.
We're making sure people in B.C. are first in line for those jobs with 5,000 new trades training seats, and the biggest commitment B.C. has ever made in the trades.

Last night in Vancouver, we celebrated the grand opening of Netflix Animation Studios alongside the Honourable Brenda Bailey, B.C.'s Minister of Finance, the Honourable Anne Kang, B.C.’s Minister of Tourism, Arts, Culture and Sport, and Vancouver Deputy Mayor, Sarah Kirby-Yung. Launching a new chapter in Netflix animation from the talented community in B.C. and beyond!
Did you know that over 5 billion people watched the last World Cup ⚽️ tournament?! And this summer, #Canada is one of three @FIFAWorldCup host countries, with games scheduled in #Vancouver and #Toronto. What an opportunity to showcase our beautiful province on the international stage.
Yesterday, I joined Premier @Dave_Eby, Official Opposition Leader @TrevHal, Minister @AnneKangBurnaby, and MLA @MDHALIWAL4BC in welcoming the #FIFA2026 #CanadaCelebrates road show to @BCLegislature. MLAs, locals, and tourists gathered on the front lawn to watch the last three qualifying matches for a spot in the World Cup tournament.
Visitors had a blast with the interactive stations - passing, scoring, and power challenges; games of 5 vs. 5 on a mini pitch; header demonstrations; music; mascots, and of course a gigantic screen where the matches were broadcast live.
It was a joy to welcome so many people to the front lawn on a sitting day. My sincere appreciation goes out to @CityOfVictoria, @victoriavisitor, @LGWendyCocchia@EsquimaltNation and @SongheesNation for their parts in such a memorable day.
We're thrilled to welcome so many skilled health professionals, like Dr. West, who are making BC their home.
Since launching targeted recruitment last year, more than 400 US health care workers have accepted job offers. (1/2)
Donald Trump’s loss is BC’s gain.
Thousands of US doctors, nurses and health professionals are applying to work in BC, because our system is based on the needs of the patient — not their ability to pay.
BC now has more doctors per person than anywhere else in Canada.
BC is strengthening public health care by attracting more health-care professionals from the US.
Since launching targeted recruitment in March 2025, we’ve received more than 2,750 job applications from US health-care professionals.
After a year of targeted efforts, the B.C. government says it has recruited hundreds of health-care workers from the United States. https://t.co/TQI1MpPIMM
The lawns of BC’s iconic parliament buildings will soon transform into a soccer fan’s dream when FIFA’s countrywide celebration programme, Canada Celebrates, gets a test run in Victoria on March 31.
The series of free-to-the-public, one-day community celebrations is set to travel the country from coast-to-coast-to-coast in the lead up to and during the FIFA World Cup 2026™ tournament.
Canada Celebrates will bring soccer fans together for live match viewings, soccer-themed activations, cultural programming, music, food and more, all designed to engage fans and communities outside of Toronto and Vancouver—Canada’s host cities for the FIFA World Cup. The March 31 test event on the Legislative Assembly grounds is strategically timed to stream two of the four European play-off final showdowns for the FIFA World Cup 2026, as well as the Canada’s Men’s National Team friendly against Tunisia.
“There is so much momentum and good will surrounding this event,” said Raj Chouhan, Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, “We are honoured to host it. Members have really come together in support of this, not to mention the community.”
In matching FIFA World Cup 2026™ Vancouver scarves, Government and Official Opposition Members — including Premier @Dave_Eby and Interim Conservative Leader @TrevHal — gathered on the steps of the Legislature earlier this week to showcase their enthusiasm. “British Columbians are huge soccer fans and we are absolutely thrilled to be hosting seven of the FIFA World Cup games in beautiful Vancouver,” said Minister of Tourism, Arts, Culture and Sport @AnneKangBurnaby , “Now we have the privilege of hosting the first Canada Celebrates fan experience here in Victoria. It’s wonderful.”
Official Opposition critic for Sport, @MDHALIWAL4BC, echoed the sentiment: “I love soccer and I love the energy that the @FIFAWorldCup is bringing to our province. @FIFAcom Canada Celebrates community stops are great—good for tourism, good for business, and good for the soul.”
Canada Celebrates events are open to the public and there is no admission fee. This test event will offer a preview of elements of the Canada Celebrates experience ahead of the full programming that will be rolled out when Canada Celebrates officially kicks-off in June 2026.
When we turn the clocks ahead on March 8, it will be the last time change ever for BC. We're changing to a permanent daylight saving time, simply called Pacific Time (PT).

That's why we're launching a $400M Strategic Investment Fund to support B.C. businesses, attract federal investment, and advance key sectors to create good jobs and prosperity for people across B.C.
