The taskification of medicine must stop. Some things require a medical degree.
Medical Director due to give evidence next week & they release this to press today
I have a bad feeling that #Nottinghaminquiry will end with making it the fault of individuals involved but no change to MH services, team structured, beds, outreach, funding
Until next disaster😢
buried in the leak of a chunk of the proposed NHS workforce plan is a sentence that changes the whole argument. The plan, apparently, envisages circumstances where technology can‘completely substitute for a role’.
Substitute. Not support. Not assist. Replace https://t.co/GRzK0HYNsf
The GMC is the right arm of the government & offers no protection for patients, & the welfare of Drs is pretty low on their agenda. It should be operating under the Medical Act 1983, but has veered away from this. Inviting HC workers who haven't studied medicine onto the register

The medical reform needs a serious rethink. We’re calling for:
- separate registers for PAs and reduction of blurred lines
- title protection for doctors
- no increase in the GMC powers of appeal
- new powers for PSA to demand info when needed
@TheBMA I hope you can robustly ensure this is not misinterpreted as a barrier to sharing data across shared care records with secondary care- an innovation which has prevented harm on many occasions that I have seen myself including repeated investigation or incorrect treatment
No right to access NHS dental healthcare exists in England, even for children.
Universal free access to dental healthcare in England is needed to combat the overcommercialisation of dentistry that is affecting vulnerable people the most, argues Analysis

Uncontrolled expansion of Brazil’s medical schools has resulted in thousands of students on the verge of entering the health system without basic competence

#BMJExclusive Data used to justify the expansion of controversial software in the NHS is flawed, experts say, and the pilot trust’s innovation adviser worked directly for Palantir

General practices and pharmacies cannot track medicines availability across the UK in real time.
This lack of visibility is leading to life threatening emergencies

A “misunderstanding of autism” was one of a series of “catastrophic” failures by multiple agencies that led to a knife attack in which three girls died, a damning inquiry has found
