@ThomasJWebster1 @CocoonitL @NU_ChemE Our partner company has in fact secured IP on synthetic silk! Since mulberry trees (what silkworms eat) are a year-long crop, one of the benefits of using natural is ongoing employment in certain agricultural countries. Good question!
