I’ll share my thoughts on a critical challenge facing the MSMEs sector: bridging the gap between targets and impact.
Textiles Committee, Ministry of Textiles, Government of India organised a Roadshow on the Textile Export Facilitation Centre (TEFC) and a Stakeholders’ Consultation Meeting at Surat on 16 March 2026.
The programme was graced by Smt. Vrunda Manohar Desai, IRS, Textile Commissioner, Government of India, Mumbai as the Chief Guest. Shri Nikhil K. Madrasi, President, Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce & Industry; Shri Shaleen Toshniwal, Chairman, MATEXIL; and Shri Ashok V. Jirawala, Vice President, Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce & Industry addressed the gathering as Guests of Honour.
Shri Jayadratha Devbarman, Director, Textiles Committee welcomed the participants. Shri Kartikay Dhanda, Secretary, Textiles Committee delivered the keynote address highlighting the role of TEFC in supporting textile exporters, particularly MSMEs, while Shri R. Chandran, Joint Director presented the objectives and services offered by the Centre.
The stakeholders’ consultation session provided an interactive platform for exporters, manufacturers, and industry representatives to engage with officials of the Textiles Committee.
The programme witnessed participation from around 180 exporters, manufacturers, and industry stakeholders, who benefited from the roadshow and discussions.
The event concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Shri Brijesh K. Shukla, Assistant Director, Textiles Committee.

Hon’ble Union Minister of Textiles, Shri Giriraj Singhji, reviewed the activities of the Office of the Textile Commissioner during his visit to Mumbai today, in the presence of Smt. Neelam Shami Rao, Secretary (Textiles).
Smt. Vrunda Desai, Textile Commissioner, briefed the Hon’ble Minister on the revamped roles and responsibilities of the office, aligned with the vision of achieving a US$ 350 billion textile economy by 2030. Key initiatives highlighted included the ITADC Erode pilot project, strengthening of the textile data ecosystem (Powerloom App, TSRS revamp, fibre mapping), and progress under ATUFS.
The Hon’ble Minister appreciated the measurable progress, emphasized the pivotal role of ITADCs, and reaffirmed the Ministry’s continued support to strengthen implementation and accelerate reforms across the textile sector.
