Eternal security is found in Christ, not apart from Christ. Our confidence is not in a doctrine detached from a Person; it is in the living Christ, who is able to keep, preserve, and perfect all who abide in Him. "He is able to save completely those who come to God through Him" (Hebrews 7:25). "He is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you faultless before the presence of His glory" (Jude 24).
However, sonship does not abolish human responsibility. Becoming a child of God does not mean you cease to be a free moral agent. God does not save you by destroying your will. Love cannot be coerced, and covenant cannot exist without response. You still possess the capacity to obey or rebel, to remain or to depart, to persevere or to forsake.
This is precisely why Jesus repeatedly commands, "Abide in Me" (John 15). Such an exhortation would be unnecessary if abiding were automatic. He warns that branches that refuse to remain in the Vine wither and are cut off (John 15:6).
Paul echoes the same truth: "Continue in His kindness; otherwise you also will be cut off" (Romans 11:22). The writer of Hebrews warns believers against "departing from the living God" (Hebrews 3:12) and repeatedly calls them to hold fast their confidence to the very end.
The believer's security is therefore the security of abiding union, not independent immunity. Christ has never failed to keep anyone who remains in Him, and He never will. His grip is unbreakable, but Scripture never encourages us to let go of Him.
The New Testament holds two glorious truths together without contradiction: God is mighty to keep, and believers are commanded to continue. We must never magnify one truth by silencing the other.
Eternal security is not a licence to drift from Christ; it is the triumphant assurance that everyone who abides in Christ is eternally secure because Christ Himself is their Keeper. If your goal is to provoke theological reflection, this version strikes a firmer, more compelling tone while staying closely aligned with the biblical exhortations to persevere.
You make sound exegesis, but on this I don’t think it’s entirely correct.
No one doubt the “eternality” of salvation, but that eternality is in God, as someone puts it “Before you were born salvation was still eternal”
I’ll like to take the Judas case as an example, even though I have heard this line of thought about Judas even from those I hold in esteem.
“Have I not chosen twelve but one of you is a devil” The idea that Judas was not saved is not entirely true.
The interpretation was not saved, at best must only be interpreted as such to save face. It’s a retroactive bias. Because it won’t be logically consistent.
The Bible records that Jesus prayed all night before he chose his disciples, did Jesus end up praying all night to choose a devil? Luke 6:12-13
When the Apostles gathered to select Judas replacement, this was their thought about Judas
Acts 1:20 KJV - For it is written in the book of Psalms, Let his habitation be desolate, and let no man dwell therein: and his bishoprick let another take.
His Bishoprick - his office given to another, how can a devil have an office among Christ people?
His Habitation - His homestead, his spot among the people of God, be left desolate. He had a space among God’s people that couldn’t be reassigned.
When this interpreted in a certain way, it is easy to bring other scriptures in Hebrews into this interpretative framework.
Also, the context of unbelief as we see in the OT story that the Author of Hebrews was referring to was in hardness of heart in iniquity not in unbelieving a certain belief, messiah and savior.
If it was unbelief that Hebrews 3 was dealing with, what were they unbelieving in the wilderness.
Also, the tiny detail always missing in Peter’s story is, Jesus prayed for Peter, but Peter returned in repentance. No buts and ifs.
But not to put us in doubt, here is Hebrews context
Hebrews 3:8-11 KJV
Harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, in the day of temptation in the wilderness:
[9] When your FATHERS TEMPTED me, proved me, and saw my works forty years.
[10] Wherefore I was grieved with that generation, and said, They do ALWAY ERR in their heart; and they have not known my ways.
[11] So I sware in my wrath, They shall not enter into my rest.)
[12]Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in DEPARTING FROM the living God.
How do you depart from what you’ve never been part of?
That’s beside the number of scriptures that would have to be totally neglected. And even in context.
1 Corinthians 15:1-2 KJV
Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein YE STAND
[2] By which also YE ARE SAVED, if ye KEEP IN MEMORY what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.
This is Jesus
John 15:5-6 KJV
I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.
[6] If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.
This is a false “gospel”. The Bible speaks directly against this kind of mindset. According to your “gospel”, if someone accepts Jesus in his heart and tomorrow goes and commits a murder or even a mass shooting, he will still be accepted into Heaven. Revelations 22:15 says otherwise. “Outside the city are the dogs—the sorcerers, the sexually immoral, the murderers, the idol worshipers, and all who love to live a lie.” Revelation 22:15 NLT
Paul talks about running the race in such a way to win the prize or else he will be disqualified, and other verses talk about a person abandoning the Faith. Another verse says that only those who endure to the end will be saved.
“And everyone will hate you because you are my followers. But the one who endures to the end will be saved.”
Mark 13:13 NLT
“Not everyone who calls out to me, ‘Lord! Lord!’ will enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Only those who actually do the will of My Father in Heaven will enter.”
Matthew 7:21 NLT
Then, there are the verses where it says our salvation is God’s free gift of mercy, not by our works, lest we boast.
“God saved you by His grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God.”
Ephesians 2:8 NLT
“For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Romans 6:23 NLT
But Jesus explained to us, in John 15, what He expects from us. We must remain in Him, as a branch remains in the vine. We are the branches, Jesus Christ is the Vine! Without the vine, the branches die and then the branches are worthless and will be thrown out. If we remain in Jesus, in His love, we are assured of our salvation, but remaining in Him is the 🔑.
By loving God and loving others. The Bible also says in Romans 10:
“In fact, it says, “The message is very close at hand; it is on your lips and in your heart.” And that message is the very message about faith that we preach: If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved. As the Scriptures tell us, “Anyone who trusts in Him will never be disgraced.””
Romans 10:8-11 NLT
Thank you @DrFeruke
All of you parading the doctrine of Once Saved Forever Saved, I pity you all.
You pastors are subtly leading you to hell & you are not aware.
You have a license to sin at will & you flaunt it.

I am QUITTING the debate space indefinitely.
After a deep and sincere conversation with our revert brother @EnochIslam I have come to the realization that I have done more harm than good by trying to debate without a proper foundation in true Islamic knowledge.
I ask Allah and the Muslim community to forgive me for what I have done in the past and to allow me to enter a new chapter of my life as a student of Islam instead of using Islam to my own will. I deeply regret taking debates with individuals who constantly disrespect Islam and I will steer far away from them.
Truly, after speaking to our brother Enoch I have realized that the presence I have can be used for something greater and better than wasting time arguing with those who hate us.
If I ever hurt you with my words, I sincerely ask for your forgiveness as I have made many mistakes in my life that I now seek to rectify before I meet my Lord on Judgement Day.
The last 10 days of Ramadan spent in the Masjid was an invitation by my good friend and lawyer @HassanShibly who helped me in my journey back to Islam away from hedonism.
I’m still learning, and I have no knowledge to speak on Islam in a public space, let alone in debates.
So I will refrain from doing so until I finish my proper schooling recommended to me and I will continue to strive for Allah in private.
My efforts will be focused on creating content for journalism, activism, and financial education.
I hope that you continue this journey with me as I navigate this chaotic world as a human.
I ask Allah to forgive me and forgive anyone who may have done wrong through my influence or actions, and I sincerely ask those who support me or know about me to make dua for me to become the best version of myself while I am alive.
This is my only personal goal in life… to become the best version of myself so I can serve others around me in the best way possible. That’s it.
May Allah accept my sincere repentance.
I want to thank my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for the opportunity to represent Him on the highest stage 🙌🏾🙏🏾
Thank you to the fans for your support, we will be back.
This season of manifestation is actually a season of preparation for a season of higher manifestation.
God is watching to see how you handle the success at this level to qualify for what he has next for you.
This scene cuts straight to the heart. One thing is absolutely clear though, this man represents the true meaning of being a father, and his love and dedication stand above everything else symbol. ❤️
